Mag: n. (slang) One of the Automag line of paintguns, originally produced by ADG.

Marker: n. Politically correct paintball terminology to replace or be used in place of the word "gun" or “paintgun.” It is falling out of favor.

Marshal: n. (UK) A referee.

Mask: n. A shield, almost always connected to goggles as a single unit, used to protect the face and usually the ears. It is typically made out of plastic, rubber or foam. A mask is an important piece of safety gear as it is possible, though unlikely, for a paintball to bounce off of a cheekbone and slip under a set of goggles worn without a mask without breaking and thus cause an eye injury.

Matrix: n. (slang) A term used for Dye and Proto lines of markers

Max: v. (slang) To score the maximum number of points possible in a game by getting the first flag pull of the game, eliminating all opposing players, not losing any of yours, and/or getting the flag hung. Usually reserved for tournament play.

Macro-line: n. A type of flexible, small diameter plastic hose used in a paintgun’s air system. It is more easily cut and shaped than steel-braid hose.

Milling: n. A modification where parts of the marker's body are cut out or off to make the marker lighter and more attractive.

Milsim: 1. v. To alter a paintball gun to resemble a real firearm. 2. adj. The character of a piece of equipment that resembles real military or tactical equipment, or a player so equipped.

Mugging: v. (UK slang) A synonym for bunkering.

Muzzle break: n. Sometimes used to describe any type of barrel porting, more specifically it refers to a ported attachment at the end of a barrel.

Muzzle Velocity: The speed at which a paintball leaves a paintgun.
