P

Paintball: 1. n. A spherical gelatin capsule containing water soluble paint. Paintballs are approximately .68 inches in diameter although there is some slight variation (on the order of thousandths of an inch) between manufacturers and brands. 2. n. The game we are talking about, in general.

Paintball Park: An area that has several different playing fields available.

Paint check: 1. v. To examine a player for a paint splotch to ascertain whether or not he is eliminated. A player can paint check himself or a teammate. More commonly a player will call for a referee to paint check him or a player who he suspects has been eliminated. A player being paint checked by a referee is temporarily neutral and may be neither shot nor maneuvered against. 2. n. The process of checking a player for a paint splotch.

Paintgun: n. A device, almost universally pneumatic, designed to fire paintballs. More correctly called a marker.

Pod: n. A large round tube used to hold extra paintballs, and normally held on a harness.

Porting: n. See barrel porting.

Power-feed: 1. n. A feed neck with part of the outer wall of the tube cut away to allow gas to vent during firing. Supposedly this creates a gas flow dynamic that forces paintballs into the breech. 2. v. To feed a paintball via a power feed or, said of a paintball, to be fed via a power-feed.

President: a game format composed of two teams, a "defending" team, and an "attacking" team. One member of the defending team is unarmed, or lightly armed (pistol). This is the "president". The object of the game is for the defending team to move the president from one point to another, usually a considerable distance away, without him being taken out of the game. The attacking team attempts to "assassinate" the "president" to win. If the attackers fail and the "president" reachs his destination, the defending team wins.

Propane: n. A flammable gas that is easily pressurized into liquid form. Recently propane has been introduced as a paintball propellant. Tippmann Pneumatics makes a paintgun in which propane is ignited, thus launching the paintball. Advantages of propane include light weight, low cost, easy availability, and a very large number of shots from one tank of propane.

PSI: n. Pounds per square inch, a unit of pressure defined as the force in pounds exerted by the substance under pressure against a surface with an area of one square inch.

Pump: n. A type of paintball gun where the action of moving the bolt back, having a paintball drop into the breach, and bringing the bolt forward must be manually performed via a hand pump before firing.

Push: 1. n. An aggressive advance. 2. v. To perform a push.
