Re: Fan(s) mod for V-Force profiler

I love it when old threads get bumped by searchers. I hadn't seen this one yet and it's really good information!

Drewed for a great post.

Lone359 for looking around/using the search instead of blatantly posting a question that has already been answered.

Re: Fan(s) mod for V-Force profiler

I just did this mod to my JT mask. My mask had been fogging up in the cool misty air the last few times i have played. I had to put two fans on the outside of the mask below the visor since i did not have the space in side the mask. Haven't tried it in a game yet, but it does blow quite a bit of air inside. Ill try to post pics later. Thanks for all the good info.

also i purchased a switch, but with my limited(none) knowledge of wiring i did not know how to install it properly. If anybody can help?

Re: Fan(s) mod for V-Force profiler

here are some pics...

from the front, notice i had to use black tape to provide some "cover" for the tips of the fans

side view

inside showing screws...just used exisiting vent holes and #6 screws that were 3/4 inches long

I still have a switch that i can add but really dont see the need. Any suggestions...maybe a better way to help cover the fans?

Thumbs up Re: Fan(s) mod for V-Force profiler

You can also get a kit made ready to go with on/off switch, wires and fan ready. See it at http://www.ezcreation.ca under FANZ

Re: Fan(s) mod for V-Force profiler

Gotta love the search for digging up old threads that are very useful. So maybe someone can help. Im not very good with electronics, never have been. How do you connect the wires ? I obviously know you have to solder them to the switch but how bout the other wires ? Same way ? Im asuming yes but I want to make sure I get everything right before I do this mod. Any help would be great. Thanks a lot

You dont really have to solder them, you can simply twist them together and cover them with some electrical tape. All soldering does is create a better mechanical code for the wires. What this means is that they will have the same connectivity but will be stronger if say pulled on. No matter what tho, if you twist or solder, make sure you cover them fully in tape so that no wire is showing.

This is genius!!! I need to work on doing that. I don't play in the cold, but when I'm in the back words of humid NC, we all get fog. No matter what we seem to do we get fogged up after running arond.

Re: Fan(s) mod for V-Force profiler

I had actually done this mod last spring myself (it has been around for some time and posted on other forums) and picked up the fan from radio shack.(small computer fan) It is very slim and small; perfect for this application.
