Dye i3 Pro, foam replacement.

I noticed that the foam comfort lining on my goggles are starting to part in some places on the mask. Its relatively new, having purchased it this year. Does anyone on know if Dye replaces these ? or do I HAVE to buy the frame part that the foam is attached to ?

Re: Dye i3 Pro, foam replacement.

That's a good question. I'd like to know, too.

Re: Dye i3 Pro, foam replacement.

For now, I "MAY" have found a temp solution. If you look you will noticed TWo types of foam. The first layer that sits against your face is the soft absorbent kind. Thats ok. The next layer is a denser foam that attaches tot he mask. Its this layer thats parting. If you visit a Michael's craft store and go to the section that has the colored foamy pieces, you will find a glue thats good for those foam pieces. Its real cheap and seems to work pretty good for now.

Re: Dye i3 Pro, foam replacement.

What kind of foam did you get and where from? The foam on my Invision is coming off and will need to replace it ASAP.

Re: Dye i3 Pro, foam replacement.

I didn't get new foam. I used foam glue to fix the old stuff.

Re: Dye i3 Pro, foam replacement.

Ahh, ok. I'll give that a try. My foam is still holding up, it's just coming off of the goggle frame. So I should be able to salvage it.

Re: Dye i3 Pro, foam replacement.

I picked up some of the glue at Michael's. It's called Liquid Nails Perfect Glue 1. It's meant to bond a lot of materials together but 1 (there are 3 types) is meant for foam while 2 and 3 aren't. It looks like it held together nicely but I won't know how it holds up until the next time I play.

Re: Dye i3 Pro, foam replacement.

I think I found a foam replacement material! The foam is the exact same stuff found on foam brushes for applying wood stain. If you need to fix just a few small pieces, you can cut up the foam, glue them together, and then apply to the mask.

I'm adding some foam in the corners of the nose of the goggles right now because I don't think it's making a great seal there. I'll post pics when I'm done.

Or if you want something more thicker and a little stiffer, you can grab air conditioner weather seal foam at Lowes. Its not as soft but can do the trick.

BTW, what's the point of the venting on the bottom of the goggles? The mouth guard part of the mask snaps into place directly over it. Was this something they found to allow paint into the mask and tried to fix it with the mouth guard?
