Good job. That is the best mask for a paint job IMHO. In fact it is the same basic mask as mine is. And like I said, mine has held up fantastic.

Seriously, I would not paint that mask. It already looks great with Multicam and since that is the case I would leave it alone. Now if it was black, or some other bright color (as in speedball colors) I would say to paint it. I don't regret painting mine, and the others I have done turned out very well. How well a soft mask holds up over time however can be debated. I have a HARD mask and it looks as good today as it did the day I painted it.

Well, that settles it. Can't get a better recommendation than that!

Re: Should I paint my mask?

We just put in an 8 hour day this weekend. I lent my MARPAT mask to a friend, and he got popped in the mask 3 times at less than 30 feet. Mask help up great! No cracks, no peeling......nothing.

My Multicam mask that I was wearing, took one in the mask on the speedball field at about 20 feet and is also still perfect.

Also, I posted pics of my Multicam gear earlier in this thread, but did not have any multicam material to compare it with. So, to try to sway you yet again Deac, here is my stuff on my new Multicam after the day of playing and before a real good cleaning:

I will however point out again that the mask you used is IDEAL for painting. It is very hard and has little to no flexing (aside from the visor). A lot of the masks out today are not like that. And I have had mixed results with the softer, more flexible, masks.

Now for a bit of business talk.... I would welcome anyone who wants a mask painted to choose whoever they want to get them done. There are several people (to include nchittendon now) who offer the service now, and they all appear to do a wonderful job. I know I have another mask headed my way as we speak, but know that ANY of the folks out there offering the service seem to do a wonderful job.... and honestly I have a lot on my plate as it is. I only offered the service (as a side service) because when I started it there were not a lot of choices for players.... and heck, I already had the paint. LOL

Re: Should I paint my mask?

Yeah, I am in NO WAY trying to take from anyone else. This is just something really new in our local area, and using it on paintball gear has yet to be done locally, so I thought we really had something here. I have no intention on stepping on anyone's toes. And if I am, please tell me immediately and I'll back it off without hesitation.

Hey bro Leave it Looks great the way it is. Only way I would change it is if it was all black then I would paint it. as the old redneck saying goes "If it aint broke, dont fix it."

Re: Should I paint my mask?

I just noticed something... is that mask above a water dip paint job and not a standard paint job? I see the "Multicam" text in the camo pattern. That leads me to believe that it is not actually painted, but the water application "paint".

Now THAT is a whole lot easier (and MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH quicker) if that is how it is done.

Re: Should I paint my mask?

If that's a dip, where do you get it??

To respond to the Deacon...

I used Krylon Fusion to paint a JT Flex 7 (seriously) and have played hard in it over the past couple of months. I realize this is not the norm due to how flexible this mask is, but the paint has not, every chipped or cracked. Personally I like the ghost look where the pattern over my body is similar and without a lot of lines.

(I've obviously left out how I did it).

Basically you want to wash the mask in hot water for several minutes with dish soap, dry and clean with acceton (wipe it down). Use gloves during the entire process and let whatever you do, dry for 7 days.

Duracoat may be a good option.

It's a high end mask so it's up to you.

Check out this thread for an accurate how to: Finally! A "How-To" on Painting MultiCam & OmniPat - Special Ops Forum

If you're nervous or just need a refresher, just paint some cardboard to start with in order to get an idea of how the paint will lay down.

...and for god sakes, use a flat finish.
