Fogging Secrets?

I just ordered a used V-force Profiler off of ebay. Got a good deal, but I had HORRIBLE fogging issues with my previous mask. I know the profiler is supposed to be good about not fogging, but what are your guys secrets or hints to keeping your masks fog free?

Re: Fogging Secrets?

thermal lenses, i find, work fantastic. that and good goggles to start with.
i had some generic goggle that came with a crappy PMI marker i regret buying, and it fogged bad.. then i dropped the money for a set of E-Vents and they were amazing... and the double thermal lens works wonders even more.
another good thing is to have decent holes on the front so your breath gets out better, instead of staying in the mask to potentially fog up.

Re: Fogging Secrets?

I apply/buff a bit of dish soap on both sides of the lens (non-thermal mask) before I go play and it doesn't fog one bit.

If you get a fan, make sure you get it off ebay. You will save a lot of money.

Re: Fogging Secrets?

I have three possibilities to offer:

I use Vents with thermal lenses and have never had a fogging issue in daytime, despite the facts that I play in humid Florida and sweat like a horse. One difficulty with this is night games: so far I have only found thermal lenses in smoke, yellow-mirror tint and some other I've forgotten, none of which work well in the dark. The only clear lense I can find for my mask is single layer, which fogs enough that everything I see is a blur.

One guy on our team is a diver, and says that divers use a very small dab of original Crest toothpaste polished inside their masks to prevent fogging. I've been reluctant to try this for paintball, because my diving mask is tempered glass, a paintball lense is plastic and most every toothpaste I know of has pumice as an abrasive. Maybe original Crest is different. Now I have an new clear lense so I intend to try it on my old lense, but I'v elost the tube of original Crest I bought just for this purpose.

Another possibility, from a team mate, is polishing the inside of a single pane mask with two or three dabs of shaving cream. Supposedly has a similar effect without an abrasive.

In both cases these guys stressed the importance of using small amounts of whatever is applied.

Another team mate told me about the availability of an "insert", a second layer that adheres inside a lense to create a thermal lense. So far I've been unable to find this, green for the first person who can tell us where they're available.

One more (okay, this has become more than three, so what): a ref at our field offered this, and it helps: with my mask, the strap's original position keeps the mask tucked tight to my head. By moving the path it snakes through to eliminate the last slot, the mask is just slightly more open and seems to "breath" a little easier. While I'm not sure if this would apply to the mask in question, I bet it will help someone.

Hope this helps.

Re: Fogging Secrets?

Since the hairdryer moves so much air... You can have completley fogged up goggles to the point of death, and one flick of a switch i convintley placed on the vizor...

5 SECONDS, GONE!

I only turn it on if i need it, no need in keeping a fan on all the time if i don't need it..IMO
