Howto: Tie a shemagh

I know that there are lots of photo guides out there, and just as many videos, but wouldn't you want to use a guide that a fellow A5OGer made instead of all those others?

This guide was made in anticipation of Shartley's shemaghs that he will be selling approximately one day from this post.

Shemaghs are the best. Search for the other thread I started about them if it's no longer on this page.

Ok, well a shemagh is a big square.

Fold it from corner to corner, making a big triangle.

Drape it over your head, with more hanging down on your left side.

Bring the right end up under your chin.

Bring the left side up, across your face, and tie the two ends together. One knot is enough.

Then pull down the part that is across your face and put it udner your chin. Adjust as necessary to make it comfortable. I suppose you can leave the part covering your face to prevent any paint at all from hitting your head/going into your mouth, but i've never tried it, because it would probably restrict breathing.

Then put your mask over it. There you have it, complete (and stylish) head protection.

It can also be worn by simply wrapping it around your neck only (even in conjunction with a ban-du as well!).

You can do this by starting with your triangle, and wrapping the two ends around the back of your neck and tying it together at the front. (not tied together in this picture)

And that's my how-to. Enjoy, have fun, and play safe. A shemagh is excellent protection and passable head-neck camo. I highly reccomend them. Buy from Shartley!

Re: Howto: Tie a shemagh

Yup that's the way I wear mine more or less. I wrap mine starting the "traditional" way and ending like that.

I let the left side hang lower than the right, with the pointy side hanging over my shoulder draped over my chest then I hook the right side under the chin and the same for the left leaving the pointy part draped across the middle of the chest. Then as I pull both ends around the back of my neck I tie it off.

Then the mask goes on and I check to make sure my hair isn't exposed just in front of my mask on the top of my head.

That's how I wrap it. Both serve well as I have wrapped it both ways.
