| Re: Lens color you use in your mask. I use Smoke colored lenses for two reasons. (1). I have sensitive eyes and smoke lenses work like sunglasses. (2). Smoke lenses make it harder to see my flesh color. (face camo) I do switch to clear for night games. I don't like mirrored lens, it is like flashing a "du" (Mirrior) Last edited by shadow51 : 07-15-2007 at 03:28 AM. |

| Re: Lens color you use in your mask. For those who use amber (or otherwise know), would you recommend it for low-light conditions? I play mostly after work, so that means the games transition from day-light to dusk to night-time (but lit with stadium lights), so although I'd be comfortable with amber for daytime, I want to make sure I'm not at a severe disadantage at night (with stadium lights... but it's not quite the same as daylight). |

| Re: Lens color you use in your mask. Amber lenses are primarily used to sharpen contrast between objects, particularly in lower light settings like dawn and dusk, when lines and colors tend to run together. Red lenses can do the same, however amber interferes less with depth perception and causes less color distortion. Brown lenses are basically amber lenses that also offer light intensity shading, though green lenses function very similar to brown. You can get photochromic lenses darken and lighten in response to the ambient light level and they often come in a variety of colors ( clear to dark grey, amber to brown, light blue to dark blue. ) I'm rather interested in trying some out, but I'd like to see some reliable reviews on how fast they can transfer from light to dark and back and how sensitive they are to light conditions.

| Re: Lens color you use in your mask. I use a yellow lens in the woods or a poorly lit indoor field, the make everything much brighter. But for speedball or anything outdoors where the sun is killer I use a smoke lens to dampen the glare. My Vforce Profilers were one of the best purchases Ive ever made for the sport of paintball. |

| Re: Lens color you use in your mask. I've used clear, smoked, amber and prism yellow (mirrored) lenses and in the end I stayed with the prism ones as they looked right on my goggs (Gold Proteus Chameleons). I've never noticed any particular difference in vision (apart from the obvious tint) in any environment with any of the lenses but that might just be the way my eyes react to certain color combinations and tints. It's not an option in the poll but I'm eager to try out a blue prism lens. I recently acquired a set of blue tinted shades and they seem to have the effect of brightening up what I see, much like the effect others have described that they get with amber lenses. Something I've learned while working in optics is that not everyone's eyes react the same way to color combinations and/or tints so the lenses your team chooses shouldn't be detrimental to the individuals within the team. If everyone can get the same reaction to a particular tint then that's what your team should consider first. If not then you could always consider using clear lenses. That's just my opinion though. ![]()

| Re: Lens color you use in your mask. I've used amber and yellow lenses -- both provide excellent visual contrast. Since I started wearing MultiCam, the only thing people tell me they see is the lenses, giving away my position, so I've switched to smoke. |
