Too funny. I do exactly the same thing. Have to largely play by sound, can see just enough to know there's a real target before squeezing the trigger, but tough to see anything else except movement. It's kind of like giving everyone (else) camo.

This is fun, but be careful about doing this too late in the day. If the day turns dark enough one could become stuck. Have to leave that mask on 'til you get off the field.

Re: Lens color you use in your mask.

I just bought a new JT Axiom fx-10 goggle, picked up a gradient smoke thermal lens and a polarized clear thermal, all I've ever had before that is an old Scott lens set that fogged up BAD.

Re: Lens color you use in your mask.

Two of my buddies (who at that time, had just started playing PB,) bought JT Axiom fx-10 before a big game. Not even half way through the day they were complaining about how bad the masks were fogging up. I ended up loaning out my older X-Fire and another friend loaned out his V-Force Shield, to help them get through the day.

Re: Lens color you use in your mask.

I now use a blue mirror tinted lens in my vents, and I love it. Switch to clear when it starts to get dark. It also seems that I am harder to see when using the mirror, it must reflect my surroundings. I also dont really need to use a visor.

Do you know if they had thermal lenses or just the standard "anti fog" (BS) lenses? The thermal ones I bought are two lenses sandwiched together with an open layer between, pretty cool I think.

I also bought a fan for the goggles, at the same time, which should be here in 3 to 5 ... weeks... Thanks to Xtreme paintball for that one... grrrr...

Re: Lens color you use in your mask.

They had thermal lenses. If you bought a fan, that should take care of the problem.

Re: Lens color you use in your mask.

yeah, I had to buy the fan, I put off too much body heat not to. Makes it hard to snipe, or even to hunt snipe, tricksy little buggers that they are.

You really can't go wrong with a clear lens, but it's whatever you like.

Re: Lens color you use in your mask.

I use a clear lens now, but have used amber and yellow in the past. The amber really does make things stand out in the woods alot more. I use amber all the time mountain biking in the woods they really help make obstacles in your path stand out on the trail. I used a yellow lens on another set of paintball goggles and I loved them. Nice and bright and you can see good contrast between your target and the tree he's hiding behind.

Re: Lens color you use in your mask.

hehe a thread that started in June '06 nice.

I bet your team have sorted their lenses out by now BeerandFuel, but here's my addition to the thread anyway..

I use a Smoked Fade Thermal lens. Great at keeping the sun out yet still leaving visibility clear (and even more so if you just tilt your head up slightly to look through the bottom clear portion of the lense) and makes it harder for the opposition to see your eyes. Great for all day into the evening events.
