Re: Cheap Backup Mask?

^I was actually seriously looking at the first one. If I got it for that current price, after shipping it would be around $55 US to deliver. That does not count possible customs charges though.

I may see how the auction goes. Thanks!

Re: Cheap Backup Mask?

This would fit about perfectly into my budget. If I could get a Morph for the same price after shipping, I may. I don't even mind the burgundy colour, so long as it is subdued like in that photo, not bright:

Re: Cheap Backup Mask?

Any thoughts on the JT Tactical mask?

Sorry for the posts.

Re: Cheap Backup Mask?

^

That aside, I think I have settle on a mask. I am thinking either:

JT Proflex 2K5

http://www.tippmannparts.com/index.c...categoryID=114

or

JT Flex 8

http://www.tippmannparts.com/index.c...categoryID=114

I have heard somewhat better things about the Proflex, but I really like the design and colour (olive) of the Flex 8. Does anyone have any experience with these masks?

EDIT: I am somewhat concerned with the apparent lack of total ear coverage on the Flex 8, keeping in mind the gf may use it.

Re: Cheap Backup Mask?

I like my Proto Switch EL... it's comfy, covers all the important bits, and is cheap. It deosn't come with the thermal lens, but if fogging becomes a problem, you can buy a thermal lens for it later. I haven't had fogging issues with mine, but I don't live where it's cold or humid either.

Re: Cheap Backup Mask?

The thing with masks is that it's such an important factor to get one that feels comfortable to you. Head to a shop and see if you can try some on. As good as a Profiler is, it didn't feel as good as a Morph so I went that way.

Re: Cheap Backup Mask?

Well, cheap alternatives are:

Vforce Vantage, I think I can get one shipped for about $32 USD and that's from a retail store.

Proto Switch, again, the EL will run about $25-30 and since you're getting just a back up, should be a problem. You can always upgrade the lens later.

JT nvader or nforcer or whatever. About $30 USD (retail) and very solid and snug.

And my current choice, the JT FX10. A $90 mask that you can get for $30 shipped because JT made a major design flaw. With a little modding this mask is absolutely wonderful. Basically, you just have to head the back piece by the ears and bend it outwards. They curled it back in and it dug into a lot of skulls, and got a very bad reputation. The foam is great, the lens change is amazing.

Re: Cheap Backup Mask?

I have a JT flex 8 full shield...I love it. The stock clear lens was crap and I had to replace it soon after I got it due to the double pane thermal lenses separating. New lens seems to have done the trick though.
