Re: Mask Care

Lens Care :

(1). I have a spray bottle with soapy water in it I use first and wipe with a soft cloth (soft old tee-shirt)

(2). After step (1) I spray a light mist of Plexus Plastic cleaner/polish and buff with one of the old-fashion super soft diapers.

I use Pledge for cleaning my motorcycle helmet... the bug splats don't seem to stick as hard when it has a coating of Pledge I've never tried it with my paintball mask though...

Re: Mask Care

I always use dawn liquid dishwashing soap on my lenses. Before I bought a thermal, I would take my lense out and wash it, then after it would dry, I would coat it in straight dawn soap inside and out and let it set over night. Next day, buff out the dried film with a soft dry cloth, up and down. Then I would put the lens back in the mask. My mask barely ever fogged because of this.

Ive had nothing but good experiences with Pledge, and Im for the most part sure that it doesnt harm the mask, but that is where I use cation, because I do not know that for sure, and I dont want someone using it and damaging their mask because I said so. But it is by far the best that I have ever used, everything comes off nice and clean like.

Re: Mask Care

don't use soap on single pane lenses, it will damage the lenses. You may not notice the first time you do it, but after several times you will notice that it will fog more. DO NOT USE WINDEX!!!!! or any other glass cleaner either. It is really bad for plastic lenses, hints the name Windex refering to window. Even lens cleaner can still damage it.

On double pane lenses do not soak under water or use gratuitous amounts of water. It will get water spots on the inside and the adhesive on the foam seperator will come off. This will result in a lot of fogging. You can use lens cleaner, for it will not damage double pane lenses. Don't ask me how that works becuase I don't know. I have talked to the owner at my local field and he not use it on single pane and its alrite for double pane.

Use a microfiber cloth to clean. Do not use a paper towl, towl/rag, napkins, TP, etc. All of these will scratch lenses.

Re: Mask Care

Anti Fog:-

My Proto Switch used to fog endlessly until I started using a product called "Cat Crap". Hasn't fogged since. This was used on a single lens.

It comes in a small tub (about the size of a Blistex tub) and takes only a small amount to treat the lens.

Application:-

1) Get a small amount of the CC on the end of your finger and smear it all over the inside of the lens. Make sure you smear it all the way to the edges.

2) Once it's smeared all over the inside of the lens, let it sit for a minute or two to let it set.

3) Using a soft cloth (I suggest microfibre) gently buff the inside of the lens until there is no smearing.

4) For maximum effect, repeat steps 1-3 on the inside of the lens. I've heard of people applying it to the outside of the lens, but only treating the inside seems to work fine.

5) Go out and enjoy your now fog free mask.

P.S. Sorry for resurrecting a long dead thread. I use E-vents now but thought this info may be of use to others. It's a great product.

Re: Mask Care

I have used the V Force anti-fog spray and the wipes from Spec Ops. I like them both. I use warm water and unscented hand soap to clean the lense. For the inside I use v force anti-fog spray. On the outside I use plexiglass polish. Available at autoparts or boating stores. I have a vforce single plane lense.
