Blood Type diet

Has anyone heard of this? My wife and I came across this book at a neighbor's graduation party and briefly skimmed through it. After looking at the foods and knowing our blood types, it makes sense as to why we each prefer the foods that we do.

Blood Type Diet

What are your thoughts on this?

Re: Blood Type diet

After doing some research on this, its just another fad. I wouldn't put too much faith in this diet.

Re: Blood Type diet

A guy I work with is really into this. I have to tell you, I've selectively modified my diet based on monitoring my body's reaction to the food I eat over the past two years, independent of this diet, and my results have been very similar to what's listed for the type A diet. When I go far from it (eat too much meat, refined sugars, or dairy), I suffer from lethargy, [more severe] a.d.d., "cloudy" thinking, and general discomfort. Before I started modifying my diet I was suffering from chronic sinusitis, abdominal-discomfort/poor-digestion, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol. All of my numbers are back to normal, and I'm convinced that if I ever made a final push to give up all dairy (what can I say, I love the cheese), I think my sinuses would clear up 100%.

Fad or not, I dunno...I will say that it's important to listen to your own body and make conscientious choices for your own health. It's a one-time-use body, best to take care of it as well as you can while you have it.

Re: Blood Type diet

Yeah I am actually A-Pos and I can tell you that it's not exactly accurate for me. If I ingest protein, my mind is clearer, if I ingest sugars my body wants to slow down in a lot of cases and it makes me tired. Caffine in amounts like a coke are ok for me and keep me focused, Vinegar doesn't effect me, peppers are easy to deal with for me, meats are ok for me as I am active enough to be able to eat more of it (MRI, EEG, EKG, Blood Work all came back as 100% healthy), Carbs do not last long in my system, I digest it and I can burn it too quickly at times. Fruits can last longer in my system than basic carbs, in some respects so can salads. White bread doesn't last me long at all and I like the taste of whole wheat/whole grain, and multigrain breads better plus they last longer for me.

Dairy products as a snack prolong a smooth source of energy and last longer than carbs for me. However one has to know that cheese is concentrated milk into a solid so there are more calories than you think in that cheese and dairy products in general. This is why nutritionists call milk a food and not a drink, too many calories but is still helpful to start your day

On the side note Cokes and caffine products are limited for me. Excessive use of caffinated drinks or sugary products of any kind have the negative effect of inducing an energy crash with me. Which is why I'm more prone to junk food with vinegar, or spices but without much sugar.

This is why I am also not a sugarholic. I prefer a clear head and a stead source of energy with a small amount of help here and there from things like caffine.

Listen to your body with the help of medical professionals. I'm glad I did.
