| Re: Seal Pst lol yeah I kinna figured. The entire Spec Ops community are like machines. They seem to never have down time. I power walk everywhere and what's funny is I can go 4 or more miles in a power walk and never suck air. Running? That's another story. 50 yards at a dead run and I'm sucking air even though I can be fast.

Now that's SEAL material! On the GF thing; SEALs and all the Spec Ops guys have THE highest divorce rate. Should you make it thru training, not only will you be gone a lot, for long periods, but you will change, mentally, not just physically. If she can handle all that, then she's a keeper! Good luck, train hard and go swim in nice cold water, often! I found some very interesting reading for anybody wondering what SK8r is in for. | Re: Seal Pst Thanks Pumbaa. Swimming comes real real easy to me. The GF, from everything I've seen in her, is a keeper. She'll stick with it, knows whats in store for her, and wants to stay with me. I gave her printed out sheets on how long I'll be away during training, lots of information on the BUD/S process, and stats on how long and often deployments will be. She doesn't by any stretch of the imagination love the idea, but she'll be there for me, 100%. Of that I'm sure.

| Re: Seal Pst That's good to hear. Some women just have the right mindset. My best friend his dad was a Marine and his wife let him get redeployed all the time. When another Marine wife asked why she let him do it after he just got home she said this. "When the Marines are done with him he's mine." Bare in mind this lil sawed-off shotgun lady flipped off the Commandant's SUV on the freeway. (True Story) ![]()

| Re: Seal Pst Prayers for You and the GF still enabled. Had a DIVO who's significant other was an operator. She hated no notice deployments, hated that he had more trust in his team-mates than in her and ended up hating him at the end. And we were both stationed on a ship at the time, going through our own training cycles and deployments. And only one other Navy training course has as high of a wash out rate as SEALs: Nuclear Power. Both of these fields require giving all to complete the courses. Luckily, the divorce rate in Nuclear Power is a lot lower. Don't give up on yourself or your team-mates! EVER!

| Re: Seal Pst Honestly I'd just like to line up a bunch of them. Rangers, Delta Force, SEALs, Force Recon, Air Force Special Ops and just shake their hand. It's just not easy on many levels.

It's funny you mention Nuclear, as the recruiters at MEPS were practically begging me to go into it. I guess getting a 97 on the ASVAB is good or something... I told them no way Jose, I'm gonna be a frogman.

Nuclear is a bear of a field to fill, always. Gotta have a high ASVAB; knowledge of mathematics, chemistry, physics; not mind working around stuff that will mess you up (either short or long term) and you end up becoming the first on, last off of the ship (or boat). I ended up becoming "Nuke waste" due to wash out rate. Of course, "If the Snipes don't groove, the ship don't move!" And as typical with most military, it is a bit difficult to sell yourself to a largely ignorant market once you tell them what you did. The majority of the work completed is classified, so you get to say that you did such and such but the paperwork backing you up is a bit short.
