| Re: Feet! Two things to add to Sectionate's post. Good socks also make a difference. In the summer I use the kind that wick away moisture. Like stated, dry feet are happy feet. Another thing is a good pair of insoles. I use ones made by Rocky. The shoe company. I had a pair of Danner boots that I really did not like and I put the Rocky insoles in and it made a difference. It will help at the end of the day. |

Completely agree! I don't remember the brand of socks that wick away the moisture but they are really outstanding Normally I use Dr. Scholls inserts because I pinch nerves in my feet when I walk. Sometimes without insoles it is bad enough that my toes go completely numb!! Insoles are absolute life savers. Another note about foot powder: rub the powder into your feet and don't just dump some into your boots. If you just put into the boots, then you start having your feet slide around in the boots because now you have foot powder "mud" in there. The reason is that the powder mixes with your nasty, sweaty feet and it just mixes like mud. |

| Re: Feet! A trick that I learned while in the Infantry..... using duct tape on the hot spots of your feet will help to deter blisters.

| Re: Feet! That is what the moleskin is for. Not just patching the bad spots, but also to prevent them from happening. Duct tape is good for removing planters warts though! Put a patch over the wart and keep it on for 3 weeks. Allow it to be changed for showers of course, but the longer it is on there the closer the intruding whatever (be it dirt, metal, what not) will be to coming out. |

| Re: Feet! All good points. I swear by SmartWool socks. Anything with CoolMax is also worth the cash. If you can't get those, basic wool socks are great too. Stay away from cotton socks! They absorb moisture instead of allowing it to pass through the sock and out your boot.

| Re: Feet! Another thing that is important is proper fitting footwear. This is the biggest cause of blisters. When your footwear fits correctly you will not have the sliding and shifting that causes blisters. And I have found that like women with bras, folks don’t really buy boots that fit them correctly. They go by the size they think they wear or have always worn, and that is that. And then they get comfortable in that “fit” even if it is not correct. (Heh... he mentioned proper fitting footwear in the first post along with the other things... LOL Too busy today.)

I feel you've missed out the most important details regarding socks. To be reasonably assured to save yourself from blisters you need to wear two pairs of synthetic socks. Cotton socks can cause problems in just one day if moisture gets to your feet. Not all footwear is suitable depending on terrain. Tighten the laces nice and snug and make sure you have a comfortable insole.

| Re: Feet! The extra pair of boots in case you have a major problem with the ones you are wearing (such as large rips/tears or a thorough soaking). Flip-flops for between game airing out is a good idea. plus it gives you something to wear around the staging area while waiting between games and while cleaning/ fixing up your boots. in 1 whole day of paintballing (8+ hours), if your feet get soaked and you don't have that extra pair of boots, you should try to keep your feet as dry as possible. change socks every 4 hours or so to prevent your feet from getting too tender due to wet boots. Immersion foot happens quicker for some then others. The extra baby powder as you should powder your feet more then once a day. every time you change socks is a good idea. It might seem over the top to some, but it works great for me. |
