Palmers Brass

Hello!

A5 Barrel with Custom Options [BBLTA5*] - $58.00 : Palmers Pursuit Shop!, Where Custom Still Means Something

I want accuracy. Should I get 14" or less (I don't want longer than 14")? No venting or Single Spiral Vent?

Also, I use Tippmann A-5 (offcourse) and mostly Blackbox balls. What bore size do I need?

Re: Palmers Brass

If you want opinions I will give you mine. I believe anything more than 14" loses accuracy. I would go with no venting and .690 bore. To me it is not worth $45 extra to get a little venting. All you get with that is less noise. Is $45 worth less noise, not to me! If you want to spend that much you may want to look at a J&J edge elite kit or Smart Parts Freak Jr kit.

BTW welcome to the OG. Feel free to ask questions but, make sure you use the search function. Some of what I covered here can be found in other threads. And as per tradition, "Washer first then Oring, tombstone holds them in place."

EDIT: I fixed my post. I put less than 14". I meant more. I with Millslane, I like a 10", 12", or 14".

Re: Palmers Brass

Anything over 14" is a waste of gas/air

All you need is 8" of a quality bore to control a paintball. I prefer 10" barrels myself.

With a A-5, you don't need venting as the A-5 is a loud marker by itself. .690 bore it what I suggest unless you shoot only quality tourney paint.

Re: Palmers Brass

Thank you, guys!

I think I'm gonna go with 12", no venting and .690 bore then.
But do you think the "J&J Edge Elite kit" is more accurate?

Re: Palmers Brass

I have the kit as well. It stays in my bag and I keep using my Brass. I think the two are a wash for accuracy and are even. But its just easier to use the Brass because I don't have to bother sizing!

But do you think the "J&J Edge Elite kit" is more accurate?

The JJ Edge kit, with a proper bore to paint size match may be a little more accurate than the PPS brass barrel.

However, the brass barrel will not be as picky as the Edge kit if the paint is not of high quality and mismatched size. You also do not have to go through the hassle of sizing paint to your bore.

You may also find that the Edge kit is easier to clean than the brass barrel.

Both however, are going to be very accurate. You probably won't be able to tell the difference. It's really personal preference.

Re: Palmers Brass

Again, thank you.

I think I'm just gonna go with the Brass.
