| Re: your favorite barrel kit... out of all the barrels and barrel kits I've used nothing has beaten the powerlyte scepter. Quote:
The Kaner is a very good kit but I still was always more comfortable with my Scepter. Plus, I only had to buy one back for each marker I had since I was able to swap the inserts out..........and the inserts are not nearly as flimsy as the Freak inserts.

| Re: your favorite barrel kit... I had a 12" JJ for about a year but I wasent happy with the consistancy. grouping was 40" at 100ft rescentaly I got a 12" CMI thunder pig and I now get a 22" grouping. however I have always been druling over the hammer head barrel I have read tons of good reviews and have only seen a few negative reviews. the only thing that is keeping me from getting one is the price. |

| Re: your favorite barrel kit... I can say plenty on barrels, but in this case I voted Freak and here's why. The whole point of getting a kit is to properly match various paints, particularly when you have little control on paint size you use from game to game ( field-paint only, heavy environmental variances, etc. ) The instant you start using thread adapters you lose a lot of bore control you gained by getting the kit in the first place. If you want a kit in two or more threads, your best option to maintain proper paint-match is to just get the two threads and not mess with adapters. This brings me to the Freak, and really any other insert system, such as the Powerlyte Scepter If you get a barrel kit that utilizes inserts it's much easier to use it for different thread patterns. You only need a single barrel back for each thread pattern instead of buying a whole new set of barrel backs. Once you get a new back, all the inserts and tips will transfer over. I've even got a 'Cocker threaded Freak back for sale right now.

| Re: your favorite barrel kit... The problem with a thread adapter is the gap it leaves between the breach and the control section of the barrel. By necessity adapters need to be large bored so they can shoot any size paint. That means the ball doesn't have a smooth transition from firing to control. That's not to mention the extra inch or more an adapter can add to the overall length. If you are set on a single barrel system, get a 'Cocker threaded one. The A-5 is designed with interchangeable barrel collars which are much better than thread adapters. I think you may misunderstand what an insert system is. Not all are like those cheap 'fix all' varieties that claim to work as well as anything else. I don't buy into them. If you get a real barrel kit designed around inserts, such as the Freak or Scepter, you will have no such problems. They have a single, dedicated back that is designed to hold every sized insert in the kit.
