Simple physics tells us that a paint ball does not have the enough velocity for rifled barrels to work. Shot to shot consistency comes from constant paint to bore match and round unblemished paint.
'snip'

In school they like to say "show your work". Are you a physics major? Its seems some people refuse the truth when its right in front of them. HH barrels WORK. Look at all the A5r's relating their positive experiences. You can find lots of videos showing just how awesome they are. There is a good one on the HH website that shows the accuracy and how the porting works. BUT, HH's like good paint and VERY consistent air delivery, not unlike the Flatline. The biggest issue with the HH is the cost. Even so, I got my son a kit for his 98C and he loves it. I almost bought an HH for myself (not at the same time!), but I went for a Palmers Brass; any paint, any time. This new HH looks very interesting though!

Barrel length - I think its a 14" barrel with a 2" fin/back.

Easykiller found the writeup that first lead me to trust HH barrels. It details just how much testing went into the design. If you have the attention span of a goldfish, you probably won't finish it.

Sorry if I seem a little steamed, but I really wish people would THINK before they type, and be able to prove statements they make that they imply be taken as fact.

Re: New Tippmann/Hammerhead Barrel

do a side by side of a 14" j&j to exactly the setup your talking about pumbaa, and i bet by the end of the test, you won't find enough of a reason to spend 2-3x the price for one... period. Someone with a gun vice, a big back yard, a day with no wind, a good tape measure, and a shooting target get on this.... major rep points coming to anyone that can disprove or prove my statement, but I'm a gambling man and my money lies with me being correct....

Also, the info you're referencing is coming from the man. site..... ON SmartParts website, the ion is the greatest thing since sliced bread, do you agree with what they wrote too? (I don't... and lots of others would agree with me). I've tried every barrel basically made for an a-5, and I mean all of them. (It's nice having a field and shop sponsor). I have tried the hammerhead, and to be honest, the j&j is the one that is in my bag, because there's no way i'm forking out as much money as a full tech t setup for a straight bore barrel... especially when it's not any better than a 35 dollar barrel... just not worth it. Cut the price in half, and I probably would think about one, but even then I doubt it b/c I couldn't justify replacing my j&j when maybe one or 2 balls out of ten may be an inch closer to center mass at 75-100 ft. To each their own though!

Re: New Tippmann/Hammerhead Barrel

Raptor, I have dont a side by side, in not " p[erfect" environments, my hammerhead, shot just as far with better grouping then my J&J with APex, and i didnt have no wind, sunny day, etc.

I would not have invested money into it, without testing first hand, the SOLE reason I became a hammerhead dealer is because it DOES out shoot a J&J WITH an apex, and I stand behind that and their product. I can sell you a J&J and an apex all day long for 1/3 the price, and could care less about making a profit, I am know for being customer service oriented as opposed to making a profit on sales. You want the best barrel, I will sell you a hammerhead all day long, if finances get you, then a J&J with apex.

Bottom line, I will never go back to any barrel type with or without apex, because of what I have done firsthand with a hammerhead.

You put a milkjug 40 yards out, with my hammerhead, I'll score 80% hits, with J&J apex, 60%, J&J alone 50%

Re: New Tippmann/Hammerhead Barrel

yeah thats sounds good man thanks! im in the market for a new barrel cause i have a 18 fluted, the stock a-5 barrel, a cheap 12 inch barrel, and a flatline! i was thinking hammer head but they are kinda pricey but i was watching the vids on their site and i was impressed, i dont want to spend too much money on a single barrel! $150 seems like alot but you get all those fins with the barrel! but when i was hammerheads website the barrels they offer seem pretty nice, how does the straightline barrels compare too the regular hammer head barrels? im looking to spend around $100 bucks for a single barrel max! but i would buy this kit if its worth it cause of all the fins, is there any other kits that offers a kit like this with a really good barrel?

Re: New Tippmann/Hammerhead Barrel

the tippy is the EXACT same barrel / material as the hammerhead BangStikxx, only made at tippmann. they bought the rights to use the design and worked with hammerhead to create it 2" longer with the same accuracy and effect as the HH 14" version.

ALL the hammerhead barrels are the same, just their appearance is what is different, the only reason the bangStikxx is more expensive then its identical battlestikxx is that it has a removable muzzle break thus allowing ANY 7/8 muzzle brake and "supressor" to be screwed onto it

Re: New Tippmann/Hammerhead Barrel

Patriot, most HH owners I know use 1 or 2 fins out of their set. So a 3 fin kit would probably do you fine.

Panda86 is looking for an HH kit to test. I haven't found my son's yet. He's in the Army right now and won't needing his pb gear anytime soon. Its packed away somewhere safe...

I have a Palmer's brass, due to cost and its paint digesting ability. The HH owners are the ones that are very happy, including my son.

Re: New Tippmann/Hammerhead Barrel

The fins that come with the Tippmann SL is the .686, .683, and .688. The barrel with no fin or supressor is 12 1/2". With the fin and supressor is 14 3/4" long. But the supressor is 3" long it self. Just some info on the barrel.
