Apex untwists barrel

I noticed when spinning the Apex, it wants to untwist the barrel. I've tried putting some oil on the o-rings but still no good. Is there a way to prevent this besides always turning in one direction? How about teflon tape on the barrel threads?

I tried running a search on this but the search isn't working correctly for me lately. Dunno why but its definitely having issues.

Re: Apex untwists barrel

hmm try and loosen the 4 screws a bit maybe the barrel is a little large ,, so when you tighten the apex it will grab the barrel..

Re: Apex untwists barrel

Just loosen the 2 screws that are closest to the gun about a half a turn each and you should be right. I had the same problem with mine and this fixed it.

Re: Apex untwists barrel

how about twisting the Apex in the OTHER direction, thus tightening the barrel as you turn

Re: Apex untwists barrel

Red loctite on the threads (hope you don't want to take the barrel off), or loosen the 2 screws and oil the Orings.

Re: Apex untwists barrel

Will loosening the 2 closest screws cause any problems like aim, durability, etc?

Re: Apex untwists barrel

No. You're only loosening the screws half a turn so that the end of the Apex isn't clamping down so hard on the barrel adapter. Adding a little marker oil to the groove that the Apex slots into will help also by lessening the friction between the barrel adapter and the Apex itself. I did this to mine and heven't seen any ill effects on my aim.

Re: Apex untwists barrel

HeDsHoTz has the right idea, just loosen the two screws on the back. Don't loosen it so mush that it will wobble all over the place, but enough that it will spin. Oiling the o-rings should also help, and of course you can always rotate it the other direction.

Re: Apex untwists barrel

I loosened them 1/2 turn and it was too loose, so I tightened it up again and it seems to be turning fine. I guess I tightened up too much initially.

I really wish they were allen screws instead. I hate these phillips heads.

Now that I've fired it, this thing is awesome! What a great buy!

Unfortunately, its still not good enough to use my red dot, so looks like I need to keep working on my adjustable angled riser rail idea.
