| Re: Palmer Brass Venting Welcome to one of the most heated and consistent debates in the industry. Even the Palmer family themselves get this argument going back and forth.

| Re: Palmer Brass Venting Basically, if you want a loud A-5 get it without any porting. If you want to quiet your A-5 am much as possible(albeit a small amount) go for the Double. Do you want the porting but you can't afford the double, get the single. In the end it will come down to personal preference.

| Re: Palmer Brass Venting Wellllllllllll ![]() I cannot speak to A5s noise levels or performance with various Palmer's barrels, BUT I can speak to a Blazer's performance. My Blazer with a standard 10" non-ported brass shot darts and there was a bit of noise. With a dual ported 12" brass it shot better than darts and the only noise was the action going back and forth. Scary quiet and even more accurate.

| Re: Palmer Brass Venting Actually, welcome to part of the arguement that JackRock alludes to. There is a school of thought that the porting allows for a more controled final ejection of the gas. This means that the CO2/Air following the ball out of the barrel and preceding the ball out of the barrel will not be as turbulent as with no porting and all the air going with the ball. If that makes any sense!! LOL. It makes alot more sense when it is one of the Palmer's talking about it.

| Re: Palmer Brass Venting I have a double ported barrel for my a5. It shoots very good and is the quietest of any barrel I've used or heard used on an a5.

| Re: Palmer Brass Venting dont waste your money, buy a nice kit. if you do buy one, dont waste your money on the porting unless you just got some extra cash to throw around

| Re: Palmer Brass Venting Lets cut to the chase then shall we? A non vented brass barrel is still better than no brass at all ![]() Venting will not quiet down a A-5 because its a loud clunker anyway you slice it. Will it help with accuracy...that's open for debate. As stated before, even the Palmer family has different theories with different conclusions. Even though the theory of why venting does improve accuracy does sound all well and good...it does...the difference I doubt is noticeable to the naked human eye. I have shot both non vented and single vented barrels Brass barrels ( i own them both) I see no difference. If you shoot a non vented brass barrel you would not be able to imagine anything more accurate anyways. |
