Humidity Impact: Barrel length & Apex tips

How does humidity effect shot performance when running Co2?

Yesterday we went out with two 12" lapco bigshots with Apex tips and an 8" lapco bigshot with an Apex.

I was using the 8". We were all shooting allot of smoke but my 8" was by far the worst offender, It was like I was shooting a Civil War gun...

Additionally, it seemed that I was getting less distance and my Apex tip was not having anywhere near the impact on ball distance as is usually the case?

Anyone know if the moisture in the barrel / tip would have this effect and, if so, would the impact be greater on my 8" than on the other two 12" barrels?

Re: Humidity Impact: Barrel length & Apex tips

did you chrono you marker with the 12'' then put your 8'' on?

If you did then your 8 wont shot as far because the fps arnt as high. As that would also take away from the effects of the Apex too.

And im not sure about the sweet in the barrel. Im thinking that if there was a lot of condensation built up then maby, but i dont think you get enough to really effect the ball, and if you do, you shoot most of it out when you shoot your first ball

Yeah, I chrono any time I change a barrel regardless of length. There was allot of sweat throughout the whole day of shooting.

Re: Humidity Impact: Barrel length & Apex tips

I've had a lot of problems with my lapco and moisture. On a humid or wet day I forget my apex tip. I use my largest diameter barrel. For me it happens to be my freak with a .693 dia sleeve. I shoot air sometimes and CO2 sometimes. Does not seem to make a difference on a really humid day.

That is unfortunate, I was hoping I would not have the issue once I switch to HPA.

Re: Humidity Impact: Barrel length & Apex tips

Massive difference on cold days, which to me makes it worth it. I live in Mississippi and we have some pretty bad humidity. The HPA may do a little better but, to me it is not really noticeable.
