Re: Hammerhead or Palmer Brass

What is more accurate than a 3 inch dot at 75 feet.

I know, I know a 2 inch dot.

If a hammerhead can do that I'd like to see it

Re: Hammerhead or Palmer Brass

I am a Hammerhead shooter.

Our team is actually the product of a merger, and the other half had Hammerheads when we met. Watching some of the shots they made caused my jaw to drop on several occasions. Sometimes, even my beloved Flatty couldn't keep up.

My first game shooting my own Hammerhead was interesting. I got my kit, bolted it onto my A5, and chrono'd into a 2-day scenario game- no test-firing, no getting-to-know-you shooting. I was told that it would be OK.

BOY WAS IT!!

I knwo that is NOT the usual way to get to know all the quirks of a new piece of gear, but that's what I had to work with at that game. I was not disappointed, and from then on, my 12" Recon Battlestik has been my primary barrel. I posted a review of it somewhere in here if you want to check it out.

Al that being said, my $.02 would be this: keep testing barrels until you find one that does what you want your way. Then buy it and keep it and love it - and take good care of it. Take care of your stuff and your stuff will take care of you. Get a barrel that fits your style/role/position of play and lets you do it better than what you had.

Plamers makes some kick-em-butt stuff, and I have no doubt that they make their barrels with the same care they make everything else. And I have no digs against Plamers barrles. It's just that, based on my experience and how I play, Hammerhead was the way to go - FOR ME.

SO what barrel should you get? The one that ups your game - whatever brand it is. And as always. remember: equipment is an EXTENSION of personal skills, not a SUBSTITUTE for them.

Have fun experimenting and deciding !!

Re: Hammerhead or Palmer Brass

From what i've heard not only on this site, but from a couple of people who have used this product, the PBB is extremley accurate. I would say what all i've heard, but i'd just be repeating what soo many have said here already. I sign all the pro's given to this product. I havn't heard any consistent con's.

Re: Hammerhead or Palmer Brass

OK You guys have pretty much convinced me after reading this entire thread that I'm going to buy a palmers tom. But I notice on there site they have nickel/brass and some type of custom for 45$ as well as ported/nonported. Is the 45$ as good as the rest? Advantage for the Nickel? I also have an apex and would this work with ported barrels? Thanks in advance for any rplies

Re: Hammerhead or Palmer Brass

I have noticed a number of ppl say the black scratches easy. I believe that is cause of the brass, not the paint. The nickel should be a harder coat and resist the scratching better, but that depends on the plating process.

My Palmer 12", unported, unfinished arrived last week. I will say it is loud. I'm going to camo wrap the barrel and then add a shroud.

I may just buy the HH kit to prove out the accuracy between the two.

just make sure you do an accurate test and feed both barrels good paint and then feed both barrel no so ideal paint. thats the real way to compare two good barrel systems, espically when one does something that not many can do.

the coating scratches off because nothing really sticks all that well to brass. thats just the nature of the meterial.

I will start a thread on testing set-up if and when I get a HH.

I would agree with that when it comes to paints, however it's a different ball game when electro-plating it.

Re: Hammerhead or Palmer Brass

Even though I don't own a Brass, I voted for it over the hammerhead. The hammerheads are just overpriced barrel kits, that don't perform any better than any other kit on the market.
