Wow, this is an old thread. I would have claimed necromancy on you, but I realized that it had been revived a few days ago. As is, the Brass is still very nice, yet absolute hell when you get a break in the barrel

Re: Hammerhead or Palmer Brass

I vote hammerhead because they have fins(backs) so you can match bore sizes.

The problem with people making issue of raising old threads is that if new threads get made, people will say, "Don't we have a million threads on this already? Use search!"

Re: Hammerhead or Palmer Brass

I voted for the Palmer. Not because I think it's better, just because i'm a scrooge

That being said, I haven't heard much bad feedback on either barrel. The deciding factor for me would be price. HH = $$$$$

I voted for the palmer, because I'm hoping to get one soon from someone here, and it better live up to my high hopes!

Time for another barrel and need experienced help choosing. I have never seen a palmer brass in action. The owner of the local field also owns hammerhead. I have personally felt a hammerhead shot over 150ft with only two shots. I was impressed.
In addition, the angled porting did muffle the sound. I heard the not so loud shot and though he was out of reach, but I found out otherwise.

After searching the forum, I’m still not sure. Would like to buy both, but I “need” a couple other upgrades first.

Just get both, they're both great barrels. You'll never know which one is better for your marker until you try them both.

Re: Hammerhead or Palmer Brass

Been wanting to step up from my trusty Freak to either a Palmers brass OR a HH kit. Been getting the "BS run around" on availability from HH for almost two months now. I believe they may not be available until Tippmann sells enough Straightlines. (Just my conspiracy theory.) Can't get a HH so guess I'll just get a couple of Palmers in different bore sizes. The concept of the exit bore size being a "control bore" has always seemed like the right approach to me anyway. I know the HH is a very high quality product and is very accurate according to the reviews, but if you can't get one who cares.
