how does this sound

ok so i want to set up my gun as a "sniper" and yes i know there are no real snipers. my question is has anybody used the special ops 14" c series barrel. im thinking about getting it then later adding an apex. what are your thoughts on this. from what i have read 14 inches seems to be the effective and that anything bigger is for looks but im open to all opinions.

I would go with the lapco bigshot. Especially if you want to add an Apex. I would not go any larger than 14". You lose some speed with too long of barrel. I personally have never used a C series barrel. I have used a big shot and can tell you they are awesome.

You don't necessarily lose speed with an over 14" barrel, it just takes a little more air / CO2 to get the marker to fire at 280fps than it would
with a barrel that's a little shorter. Using more air / CO2 with a longer barrel will also give you less shots from a fill.

I have heard of more people using the BigShot with the APEX than the C series. And from what i've heard they are great value for money. I personally use a J&J Edge Elite barrel kit with a J&J APEX adapter and APEX. Shoots great, and if I want to change the length of my barrel for whatever reason, I just take the adapter off the end of the barrel, change the length of the front, place the adapter back on the newly swapped in barrel and go and play. Well worth the money IMO.

Just more food for thought for you.

Re: how does this sound

I have a 12" C-Series on my A-5 and I love it. I also have the Apex Tip on it. With Nelson HotSpots, Special Forces, or Visible Impact, I can hit a mask @ 50 feet 99% of the time.

Read this thread: Panda86's barrel tests

If however you are looking for the most accurate barrel, you would want to go with a barrel kit so that you can match the Bore to the paint you are using. I don't have a lot of experience with kits, so someone else jump in here.

That's not true, only because of how the Velocity Adjuster works. You will use the same amount of air/CO2 to shoot a ball out of a 6" barrel as you would shooting out of a 20" barrel. The Velocity Screw just chokes the air flow rather than regulate it. You would need a Spring Kit and/or a RVA to save air/CO2.

Re: how does this sound

I should've mentioned that I adjust my velocity through my Palmers stab. I had to turn the psi screw in (increase my psi) to hit 280fps with my 16" J&J after playing with my 12" J&J previously. I try to keep my FVA flush with the inside of the powertube.

Sorry bout that.
