Don't Know Hammerhead or Palmer Brass

My flatline is not working for my style of play. I think I’m going to give it to the other team.

Time for another barrel and need experienced help choosing. I have never seen a palmer brass in action. The owner of the local field also owns hammerhead. I have personally felt a hammerhead shot over 150ft with only two shots. I was impressed.
In addition, the angled porting did muffle the sound. I heard the not so loud shot and though he was out of reach, but I found out otherwise.

After searching the forum, I’m still not sure. Would like to buy both, but I “need” a couple other upgrades first.

Re: Hammerhead or Palmer Brass

This is just an opinion I have about this forum. If you do a search and find little or no recomendations for a product and then you search again and get alot of great info and recomenations (Palmer Brass unported), I would say go for the one with more recomendations here rather than the local shop which is just one guys opinion. LOL

Re: Hammerhead or Palmer Brass

*devil's advocacte*

Actually i have never seen a bad recommendation for the hammer head. And ive read about 5 or so reviews of the hammerhead, one of which comparing it to other barrels. That review the father, also the author, has a brass barrel and his son a HH system. Apparently the shot to shot consistancy is better with the HH, but coming htis friday Ill be grabbing a HH system, so when it finally gets here Ill be able to report back!

Heck by this friday I should have my X7 hopper, and soon after that my APE board!

Re: Hammerhead or Palmer Brass

just have to throw in my experience..

While I've never had a chance to try out a Palmer's I've never heard a bad word about them!

That said, I will share my experience with HH.
I've used them on a Mayhem, my A5, and now my Angel, so aside from the fact that I only have one bore sizer for the Angel (and none for the other markers!) I've got no complaints. from about 50ft., I could pretty much put ball on ball with the right bore to paint match. I don't know about the whole sound thing, but hopefully soon I'll be able to get back on that!

Re: Hammerhead or Palmer Brass

The advantage the Palmer will always have over the HH is the eliptical honing. When your low on cash or just want to stay with the cheap stuff, sizing paint will be worthless due to the inconsistancy of cheap paint. No matter what size you use, you will chop paint. Only exception would be if you used a very large bore, but then accuracy and consistancy would suffer greatly. With the Brass, It will almost always shoot any paint of size, shape, or price. I just recently purchase a 25 dollar case of 2000. With inconsistant bore, dimples, bad seams, and already broken paint in the bag, not one break with the whole case. I am not saying it is not possible with the HH, but that would be very hard to come by, no chops and all. Both, I believe, are great barrels, but I have to give it to the Palmer for the fact of never having to worry about sizing paint, just screw it on and never worry about the paint you buy. Not to mention 45 dollars when compared to buying a whole kit for 100 plus.

Re: Hammerhead or Palmer Brass

I don't own either but a good friend of mine owns both of them and have seem them at play. Hammerhead works fine but when he used the Palmerbrass(unported), the accuracy was pretty amazing. At this time he has a Apex on the tip(which takes that accuracy down) but it still performs like a gem. Most of the other members would vouch for the Palmerbrass(does cost a pretty penny also) but I couldn't give you a honest opinion on either. I've got a Lapco Snapshot which I'm happy with and a Apex Barrel stock. My poor flatty is collecting dust.

Re: Hammerhead or Palmer Brass

first, the getting the brass means you don't need to worry about matching paint to bore size, like dirtydurnal said, and HH have a tendency to break, or rather slice thin shelled paints with tie rifling. I'd say palmers, and for the same price as the HH kit, you could get the ported brass, for super coolness, and quietness.

Re: Hammerhead or Palmer Brass

I have never shot a HH barrel, but I've only heard good about them. However, I swear by the Palmer barrels. They make quality products, and if you ever have a problem with your barrel, they will fix it. They have excellent customer service. I've never found my accuracy lacking wiht the brass and have made some amazing shots that I never would have thought I could make. My vote is definently for the Brass.
