Re: teflon barrel idea

Does Rain-X work out good ? I'm a little wimpy to spray that on paint...

Besides making it easyer to clean off paint, does it help 'lubrication' ??

Its been done...

J&J Ceramic Barrels

-"The ceramic coating and teflon impregnation reduces the friction rate to a minimum, while inducing a self cleaning method."

Re: teflon barrel idea

Ah great!
So if impregnation is good and teflon stays there, what is the point of having a heavy and soft brass barrel ? Brass is nowhere near PTFE friction coefficient (specially when brass starts to oxydize!)

Here is what I use:

Barrel Treatment

It seems to work quite well, and reduce friction. It should, in theory, reduce the amount of air needed to move the ball down the barrel. It also helps prevent gelatin buildup.

Re: teflon barrel idea

For one thing, the PPS brass barrel is eliptically honed, meaning its slightly larger in the middle than the breach and muzzle, and the barrel can shoot just about any paint.

If you keep a brass barrel in a ziplock bag and draw the air out it'll pretty much eliminate oxidization, but if it does after a while i'v heard of using brasso or something on it.

The teflon coating after a while will start to come off, and this makes spots of non-slick surfaces in your barrel, making the ball spin strangely, and reducing accuracy.

Re: teflon barrel idea

the j&j ceramic barrels already have this. its a combination of ceramic and teflon coating applied to the inside and outside of the barrel. just to let you know.
