Paintball is getting way expensive, and from the looks of it Airsoft is expensive at the start but when you get everything all you need basically is the pellets and you can get like 2000 of them for 10 dollars. Airsoft can be far more expensive than paintball, the airsoft groups up here are very specific. For each game setting, you are not allowed to play if you are not wearing/using the gear appropriate for that game scenario. So if you had a WW2 scenario, depending on your team, you have to have the clothing and airsoft gun that exactly matches what they had. Pellets are cheap, you can use a lot more, clothing/guns/accessories is what makes airsoft far more expensive in my opinion.

That it is. Its expensive up front but if you go ahead and get everything you need its gonna be cheaper in the long run, and yes $10 plus the cost of shipping.
