Pistol Duel

This is not an event, But yet something I am hearing about happening before big events.

Its pretty much your old western pistol duel.

The playing area: 20-25 foot diameter circle, cant go outside of the circle, cant let you knee tough the ground.
Marker: your pistol of choice, as long as you supply it
ammo: 6 standard .68 paintballs of your choice

1 ref
players meet in the middle, take 10 paces and then ref begins the game. If you shoot before the ref begins your disqualified, if each player misses all 6 shots... well the audience just haves a good laugh.

From what I heard people will do a $5 fee to pay, either the money goes to charity or all goes to the winner of the duel. Either way I have been told it is a blast! hopefully I can get something like this going for the regional game come september.

what do you think of this idea?

Re: Pistol Duel

Sounds like fun. Seems like this could work with lots of markers - no buttstock, six ball max...longer barrels might mean more steps/larger circle. Hey, Sideshow: could we incorporate this in July?

Re: Pistol Duel

ya I think the games I heard allowed all pistols and stock class pumps.

Normally they are held like friday night before dark at big games, that way you get a little entertainment and refs of the big game have a chance for a little bit of action as well

Re: Pistol Duel

Pistol duel is fun. Brings back the days of the old west. Civil war is taking the bodies that you have and splitting in two teams. Stand them in two lines, shoulder to shoulder, with the two teams facing each other. The two teams stand apart, out of range of a normal paintball shot. Say 100 + feet. It plays just like a real war used to. One team commander will give the order to fire and the team will fire a volley across. The other team commander will command to fire a volley across. Head shot/kill shot takes 1 hit. Body/extremity shot takes 2 hits. You cannot move or duck when being fired upon. After each team has fired, the remaining players will fill in the spaces left or if no one was hit, both teams will take 3 steps forward and repeat. Believe me it is very unnerving to hear paint flying and you are not ducking. I wold recommend for the guys that when being fired upon, to cover up the goods. I usually stand there with the marker covering my jewels. Most guys will not shoot you there intentionally but there have been instances. It is fun to play.

Re: Pistol Duel

Its something they started doing out at D-Day. One night prior to the main game they hold th epistol duels. Sanctioned event which they actually settle on wagers prior to the game on the internet forums. It starts from one player smack talking another and so forth. All in good fun mind you. And it has sorta started to spread from there.

It was something i wanted to get started prior to Fulda Gap at CDP. I know Jet has been doing some at the events he puts on down in eastern NC.

I love the ideal. I think it would make a great before game event, say the Friday before a game when everyone is camping out or setting up camp. Charge or dont charge. Prizes or just for bragging rights. Heck its all good to me. The fun factor and bragging rights alone are enought to do it.

Re: Pistol Duel

here are the rules from where I first read about the game:

Please keep in mind that all rules are subject to change until the first gun goes off:
COST IS $5.00 PER PLAYER PER BOARD.
PAINT and 12GRAMS WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR
ALL PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE A FIELD WAIVER SINGED PRIOR TO ENTRY
ONE PISTOL PER SHOOTER
You each get 6 rounds, per match
Duel will be from a distance chosen by me. aprox 20 paces.
MATCH BEGINS AT THE SOUND OF THE BELL. BELL WILL BE PLACED BETWEEN SHOOTERS AND SOUNDS OFF AT VARING TIMES
IF A SHOOTER DRAWS EARLY, HE LOOSES THAT MATCH
IF A SHOOTER SHOOTS HIMSELF BY ACCIDENT HE LOOSES MATCH
Position will be mark on the ground. If you step out of the circle, you will be considered dead
Player must remain standing during the match(no kneeling)
HOLSTER WILL NOT BE required. GUNS WILL BE HELD POINTED AT THE GROUND
DIRECTLY BESIDE THE SHOOTER UNTIL MATCH BEGINS if gun is raised prior to bell, player will be counted as dead.
30 sec max match
GUN MALFUNFUCTION WILL CAUSE MATCH TO RE-START(SAFTEY ON IS NOT A GUN MALFUNCTION, IT IS A LOSS)
This will be single match, double elimination
PAINT MUST BREAK TO COUNT AS A KILL
There will be 2 judges for each match, their decision is final
FIRST PERSON HIT WILL BE COUNTED DOWN. JUDGES WILL HAVE WHISTLES. AND WILL SOUND OFF WHEN PLAYER IS HIT

Re: Pistol Duel

Not bad. Its all preference of the one putting it on.

That would make for a quick little tournament. If I did that style pistol duel, I'd make them draw from holsters however. Quick, fun. Good way to break the ice and meet people from other teams. I like it.

I'll see if I can find that vid of the one I saw that Jet did. They basicly had it on a speedball type field and a few minutes to take out your opponet.
