| Re: Oklahoma D-day 2008 - Allied Recruiting This is a good video of the history of the actual 82nd Airborne. It has some great shots. http://www.bragg.army.mil/82dv/videos/division%20history.wmv There's nothing thing wrong with cookies, slick posters and good looking women, but if you're looking for more than that in a D-day unit, the 82nd may be for you. It may not be for everyone, but if you want to be part of the "Tip of the Spear" the 82nd is your unit.

| Re: Oklahoma D-day 2008 - Allied Recruiting With just a little over 7 months to go, the Allied Command is ramping up it's recruiting efforts. You might think that 7 months lead time is a bit much, but trust me on this, it's barely enough time to put all the pieces into place so that when that horn sounds on J8ne 15th all 2,500 of our members will not only know what they have to do they'll also have the skills to accomplish their missions. Covering close to 800 acres, that's right I said 800 not 80, this event is more than just a one or two day scenario. Almost as soon as the players begin to arrive, there's an afternoon mini-scenario on the 10th to help kick things off. That's followed on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday by two similar events per day. Some people skip these, choosing instead to take part in the regional SPPL qualifying event, or in one or more of the specially designed training courses. Of course there's more to do than just play and that's where the vendor's show and nightly speedball events come in. There's even a parade and costume contest on Friday afternoon if you're looking to go all out. Players who want to sit this one out, but who still want to be a part of things can also enlist as radio operators, combat camera operators and logistical support staff, so as I noted at the top there's arole for everyone regardless of your talent or physical abilities. Here's a few clips we've put together to help give you a better sense of what's going on, both on and off the field as well as a view of the entire field, camp and vendor's area. If after seeing these you've still got questions about what unit to join, or some other relates aspect, feel free to drop me a line or better still give my office a call.. | Re: Oklahoma D-day 2008 - Allied Recruiting Yes you can still Register. If you have already registered and not sure if it went through, then go to D-Day Adventure Park - Home and then find the Bunker's phone number and call it and ask if your reg. went through. And good choice of picking the Darkside. Redneck Grunt, send me a pm if I was the one who recruited you.

| Re: Oklahoma D-day 2008 - Allied Recruiting While the 82nd Airborne Division is well known for stalling the German advance at Bastone, their history in WWII is full of other famous battles as well. June 6, 1944, or D-Day, was another time when the allies wouldn't have been as successful as they were if it hadn't been for the 82nd. Come and join one of the Allied Command's three Airborne units as we fight to free France! |
