This is a review for a new carbon fiber barrel on the market made by stinger.
Stinger Barrels :: Made in the USA I received this hornet 14" barrel from stinger to do testing.

My initial thoughts on this barrel as soon as I put it on the marker is wow, this thing does not flow at all, (see pictures) there are the threads and then about a 1/4 of an inch of what feels to be aluminum sticking out of the marker. I wish they would have done a design that was more pleasing to the eyes such as the stiffi or Deadly Winds barrels have. Also there is no logo on this barrel and I would not know any difference between this barrel and the 2 other models they sell if they hadn't told me which one it was. The barrel screws into the marker fine and there is no wobble. However there is a blemish on the barrel adapter that doesn't add to the looks.

The barrel is easily installed as are most barrel but maintaining the barrel after a break was quite a challenge. The barrel was DEFINITELY NOT self cleaning... Also due to the loose fibers in the porting this barrel is unswabbable so I had to use a squeegee. The squeegee didn't really clean the barrel just smeared the paint around. I ended up running it through water and then using a swab to get the water out. This left little red fibers in my barrel which after about 400 balls are still there..

I already expressed how the barrel is very hard to clean, however, I wouldn't even know it was hard to clean if it wasn't for all the barrel breaks I've had. I did my testing on my autococker pump, so the breaks were not from high rates of fire and were all in the barrel (the only break I'd had before using this barrel was in the breech from where I pinch a ball in with the bolt). I had alot of breaks using this barrel even though I had my marker chrono'd at 240 fps. I usually have it set between 270-280.

It seemed that the barrel was very inconsistent when ever I was blowing balls through it to see how well the paint matched the balls would get caught in between the sets of parting or at the very end of the barrel (half the ball sticking out). Shouldn't a barrel get wide at the end?

I didn't notice any performance increase as my stock barrel was more accurate. The stock barrel looks better IMO but it is heavier and louder (no porting). The only real advantage of this barrel is that it is quite and is light. The stinger barrel was accurate at short distances but I started to get what I call "wacky balls" at the 50-75 foot mark.

Also, the website says that the barrels are size .692 bore but the paintballs I was using would fall through the .688 back on my edge kit with relative ease while they would get stuck in the stinger and I would have to use something like a swab to push them out.

In conclusion: I say, save your money and buy a J&J ceramic or another barrel for around the same price.. If you want a carbon fiber barrel get a deadly winds barrel, they are swabbable and will take freak inserts so you can match you paint to barrel. That's what I plan on doing...
