WAS E-Grip Review

I recently picked up something special, an E-Grip with W.A.S. Board. Now, before I go any further, I will tell you that I have read nearly every thread and post on why our members here prefer the A.P.E. Board over the W.A.S. Reasons being; the W.A.S. shuts off automatically after 20 minutes of inactivity, it has a habit of the trigger running away into full auto, it is not as easy to adjust from mode to mode and harder to change the settings. That being said, I will re-iterate that I have picked something truly special. I will not name my source, but what I have is not like most W.A.S. E-Grips that have not managed to win your hearts or minds.

The first change made to this grip is that the board has been flashed (meaning, basic programming has been erased) and new programming installed. The board now will stay active up to 40 minutes before turning itself off. This is big improvement by itself, especially for those long games where there may be a longer periods of no shooting.
The second change made was so simple and I’m sure has been done before. The trigger switch has been trimmed down slightly and the angle adjusted to compensate. This eliminated the switch from catching on the frame itself and sticking causing the runaway trigger effect. Don’t ask me how it was trimmed, I watched it, I didn’t do it.

So of course I had to run some air through this thing to see if it truly worked. And to this point after consecutive days of firing my A5, the trigger has not run away (I would be sad if it left). I have not had a chance to run paint through yet and that’s the final test.

I am learning all the programming still, but I have a good grasp on it already. The programming is still a little slow, but sometimes you just don’t get to have everything.

At this point, can honestly say that I like this W.A.S. setup. The adjustments that were made I expect, don’t put it on par with the A.P.E., but it does give less to complain about. Also, not needing to buy an aftermarket board and more than double the money put into this grip, gives me more room to buy paint.

Hey that's interesting, do you have any further information on reprogramming the WAS board ??
What type of communication, original code ?
I'd also like to make it stay on longer then 20 minutes and make the almost auto mode really full auto..
Reprogramming the WAS board would definitely desserve a sticky thread IMO

Here is a pic of the original:

Here are pics of my board:

You can see the switch has been trimmed, not much, just so that it is now a little shorter than the board it's on. You can also see that a slight bend has been added to the switch to make up for the loss in height from the original.

Re: W.A.S. E-Grip Review

Absolutely. I just got back from he field a little bit ago, not once did I have any trouble with a runaway trigger, and not once did it shut off on me when I least expected it.

I have a W.A.S. E-grip as well and it works fine, haven't had any problems yet.
