Re: paddeling

Do you go to school in the 1800s?

Seriously though, you go to a private school, right? Just think, your parents paid for you to get paddled. They wouldn't do it if your parents stopped paying them.

Re: paddeling

I got my first paddling in kindergarden... Then one in first grade. Then approx 10 to 15 in the 3rd grade. That was a bad year for me. Then once more in 8th grade that was totally BS. The one in the eight grade was because I said crap. The teacher said crap was a cuss word. Its not a a cuss word no matter what he said! That still ticks me off and it was like 17 or so years ago.

Sounds like you, my friend, are the reason the rule is in effect. I hate it for you. I disliked getting beat in school. It hurt. But I dont think it adversly effected me any. Considering the line of work I am currently in, it may have actually had a positive influence on my. Is negeative influence possible to be positive...? Who would have thought I would turn out to be an upstanding member of society...

EDIT: Forgot one, I got paddled in the 6th grade one time as well. After I got in high school the cut out beating kids in this state. I think they have went back to it if they have express permission from your parents to beat you.

Re: paddeling

Like zulu stated, when properly metered out, I believe that corporal punishment is OK. Do I agree that you should have gotten punished for having a rubberband? If the rule was not in place when the offence happened, I think maybe not. Did you disrupt the class? Did you shoot somebody with it? Then yes, the punishment was desereved. If not, then maybe a lesser punishment, make the rule, then hand out the punishment to the offender. Do not dwell on the punishment, my friend. Take it as a lesson learned and you will know for the next time. Look at it this way. If you were the head of the school or the teacher, how would you feel if a pupil had brought something like this to school and shot another student with a "hornet" and had an eye injury. Would you not feel bad if the student lost an eye or had diminished use of the eye because something like this happened? Usually rules are made for a reason or because of a situation that has happened or to keep a situation from happening. Chalk it up to a learning experience, move on, and don't let it happen again. Good day and God bless.

Re: paddeling

Tell them to upgrade to the Wargear Ultrasoft flex paddles, should be much softer on the tush .

On a serious note, i dont think its fair if the rule wasnt in effect.

Re: paddeling

I go to a Catholic school and I'm not paddled. Strange, very strange. Boy, are those nuns tough, though.

Re: paddeling

After 12 years in a catholic/private school, I never got the paddle, or even seen anyone get one. I know my highschool didn't allow it and pretty sure my grade school didn't either. Punishment in the grade school involved standing on a parking line during recess and in some rare cases, detention. Demerits/detentions for highschool.

Re: paddeling

They've threatened. Jokingly, of course. My dad went to Catholic school, and the kids were rapped on the hands for various rule breakings.
