3.79 for regular unleaded here in NC. I can remember when hi-test was under .99 a gal.
Deacon, I just want to know HOW they can justify such a high profit margin now on gas, it still costs them the same to make it. I guess it's like the bar business, you pay $3.25 for a bottle of beer that costs them $.86 to buy and $.41 to cool and serve....

here in ontario reg unleaded $1.24 a litre so around $5 a gallon. the real bull crap is we sell you guys our oil then buy it back from ya. our gas should be cheaper then yours but its higher

Don't be fooled into thinking that all the oil companies are doing is raking in the money, stuffing their pockets and lighting their fine cigars with 100 dollar bills...its not like that at all.

While their profits are through the roof, so are their taxes. Did you know that if you add up the total amount of taxes paid by ALL Americans in 2007 that the oil companies alone paid half of that number? Thats at roughly 35% already, what more do you want?

Did you know that the major oil companies are do not have s single owner getting crazy rich off those 40 billion quarterly profits? The top dog of Exxon Mobile owns around 2% of the company. The rest of made up of stocks, bonds, pensions, 401k, mutual funds ect...take away the profits? Who will you be taking them away from? You own retirement plan!

Combine that with the fact that the American Dollar is not doing so well, the price per barrel has to raise as our dollar drops so compensate the value difference, demand is rising for oil in many other developing countries...and its a FREE MARKET...

How can anyone say anything about their profits? Don't buy into the flavor of the month argument on this topic. The popular belief is that Oil companies are raking in the money and taking us to task. Reality will show that this is isn't the case and common sense tells you that there isn't anything we can do about it anyways because they have every right to make a profit.

We need to fix our dollar before we can expect to see gas prices drop and or combine that with getting more oil into the marker, faster.

$3.69/3.79/3.89 in the Fort Lauderdale area of South Florida.

Just got back from Florence, South Carolina and it was only .10 cheaper. The last time I went up that way it was a good .50 cheaper than down here.

$3.73 were I am in MA.It went up $.08 last week. I went to work in the am it was $3.65 and on a road test in the late morning it was at $3.73.This is getting out of hand.
Edit:5/19 it went up to $3.79 over the weekend.Edit: It went up to $3.85 today 5/23.

Historicly gas in the US has been cheap. That is why we feel it now that oil prices are increasing. At least we dont live in France where its like 7.50 $ a gallon. I remember when it was less then .99$ here. It was still about 4.00$ in England then. Id say that we had it so good for so long we got spoiled. Now that its time to pay the piper it sucks.

King NC is like $3.74. Have you guys seen this crap that Marathon, Shell, and some others are doing where if you buy gas using their credit card, you save like $.20. THATS BS. Jeep is also selling cars guaranteeing $2.99 gas for 3 years. Just shows how there's no "shortage".
