I think Rep Points can be a good thing, but can also be abused. I do not look just to a member's rep points when making a determination about them, but many other factors. They do however give folks a place to start.

I hand out rep from time to time.

I say it is a necessary part of this forum. Keeps people from just popping in, unloading their crap, and then leaving. If you want to be here, post and contribute and be part of this community. If not, get mad, leave, and go back to PBN. We are like a big family. We try to help each other without calling them gay or other names and flaming them. Treat people as you would want them to treat you. That is what makes the OG forums better than most forums. Stick with it and you will soon have the points needed. It really is not that hard. Most of us with rep have been here along time. Enjoy your stay.

I usually rep when I see a really good post or mod that is creative. Also rep whenever someone helps me out with a question/inquiry.

Think of REP as reputation. You give someone REp as a thank you, so to speak. It shows that the person is a good contributor to this website.

I agree with silent death & like many others,I give rep only when I feel it's deserved.also like shartley said,I don't only look at a member's rep,take a look at their posts and see if they also help out others etc....if you give good,sound advice and such this can also help your rep.basically,being respectful of others and being a decent human being should be all the rep you can hope for.

I dont actively fish for it like it seems some people do, but I definitely agree with it. It does seem to keep people on better behavior and make this forum a more pleasent place to frequent.
