All...thanks. I really am blessed because she loves school that much. I don't HAVE to keep on her about it because she does that all on her own...lol.

SouthPaw...nope, she plays paintball with me...lol. In fact, she's coming with me to OK DDay next year.

I don't care about intelligence....wait...I shouldn't say that....

I care less about intelligence and MORE about learning to cope with people and acceptable societal behaviors. I don't want my children running around with an elitist attitude about their intelligence...nor do I want them intellectually frying themselves and live out of a box under some bridge. I don't want them to miss life passing them by because they had their noses stuck in a book either. There's nothing worse than an intellect with the social graces of a billy-goat.


I have NEVER required anything more of my children than to just do their best. They don't have to get "A"s but I better not see "F"s either. I try to "round-out" their intelligence by doing things with them...paintball with me, arts and crafts with my wife, chilling with friends (sometimes I have to force Elizabeth to do that...lol), family vacations that they get to pick...stuff like that. They are raised that nothing comes to them on a silver platter but are rewarded for excellence.

to give her motivation take her on a vacation to a different country ex. Italy

and let her have a great time. ex walk through the streets, go to an Italian restaurant that doesn't speak English,

in no time she should be strongly motivated to learn italian, and many more languages.

yes, encourage her to learn a new language. When she is a teenager it's too late. Believe me, because I'm in that boat.

And I like the way you think about it...
You are right about children needing to have a good EQ (Emotionel Q) as well as a good IQ.. sometimes a good EQ can take you further in life

Children born after the 1990's are very gifted and learn very very fast.. but they learn what they want to and what they like. That is why we all need to help them ''find'' what they like in life and let them take advantage of that. There is alot of books on this subject Interesting subject And to live it is even better haha

I'm extremely impressed from what i've read. I know that I have always been a smart kid, but until recent;y I have been rather sheltered. I'm finally breaking out of that myself, and making a bunch of new lady friends

If you do follow the advice of some of the people here, then at least make sure she learns a useful language. Spanish, Mandarin, Japanese, or maybe Latin would be alright in my opinion.

It's also vital that she is aware of how things are in other countries. A beautiful mind should not be corrupted from the effect of only seeing things from an American perspective. Teach her about other cultures, as many as you can, and teach her to love the world, not just America.
