If respect is given and does not need to be earned, why have a REP system... It says in the REP explanation by Beer that points are a measure of activity and respect, and you need a certain number of points to get into the classified section, so you are infact earning respect. I realize the classifieds part is to prevent people from getting ripped off. Maybe I am just reading things wrong. I realize that you shouldn't be an arse to people, but here respect is something that is earned. I am not trying to pick a fght or get banned, I am just making an observation.

I will say though, there are far fewer yahoos on this forum that are annoying compared to PBNation... this site is more managable because it is 1/200th the size.

You know, I pointed a member of pbnation in this direction for exactly the same reasons. This forum is by far the most mature and helpful forum I've been to. Thank you all for making it that way!

here's the answer to this question...

Respect is given, period. every single member on this forum WILL respect one another unconditionally. showing a lack or respect will only get you rep bombed.

the is for showing a person that you agree, support, honor them and what they have said or done. which in itself, is another forum of respect. publically in posting, everyone will be respectful towards one another and not post to harm, discourage, tear down, and make fun of, ect others.

Rep is not just for the BST section. its a reward for your actions and showing people that you are here to help and share.

I hope that no member here participates for the rep. thats not what is it all about.

With the 'Reputation' system you earn points that can get you access to areas of the forum. It also gives other members an idea of how your posts are received by the membership.

Respect is how you treat others on this forum.

Respect is something that every member of this great forum expects from you whether your Rep Points are 0 or 10000.

I agree, but I think its best to address this issue now for the current members. That way, as this forum grows, we will have a large base of members who know what is acceptable and not, so as to lead the new members towards the right path.

I like the idea of members having to take a small quiz on the rules and regs.

Beer, could something like that be set up for new members?
