First off, I'd like to say, that with all of the mixed reviews floating around of all the different cyclone mods, I'm shocked that no one has brought this up yet. New Designz is coming out with KILLER products, for all sorts of markers. The selling price, which includes all of the "internal" parts, the piston housing, minus the paddles, is 79.95. This puts it above the RAP system, and below the Tech T. MMMMM how I love the middle ground. The finish is FLAWLESS, no burrs, no sharp edges, it needed zero tweaking right out of the package.

Rod: It is EXACTLY the same length as the stock, uses the same stock rubber sealing ring, and has a brass bushing inserted into the connecting pin end. This is arguably the part that causes most modder's their headaches, but this one was a pleasant surprise.

Piston Housing: The finish is incredible, it's aluminum, the holes are set so that when the cyclone cycles, the rod is exactly in the middle of the sets of holes. It does its job perfectly, and it only gives a slight hint of something under the hood with a small, 1/4" NDZ logo on the side.

Ratchet mechanism: Once again, the finish is superb. The mechanism has small threaded screws in the back end, so you can get the spring/part that snugs everything together (sorry I can't think of the technical jargon at the moment), where the stock one is a pin that you have to press out. On the other end, where it is connected to the rod, there is another threaded pin, but this one has a machined center section so the rod glides liquid smooth. The teeth on the ratchet itself, mimic the stock unit perfectly. I DID NOT HAVE TO BEND, or TWEAK ANYTHING to get these parts to work!

Before I made this review, I put these items under one heck of a test. I filled up my 72/3000 tank, loaded up the hopper, filled my pods (4), set the bps to 23, gassed up and off I went. I fired non stop through the hopper, and the pods, without pause, and without a break. Not one break, using a flatline, and nelson ekg (tourney grade). I am SUPER, SUPER glad I bought this kit, as I didn't want to go cheap, and I didn't want to shell out 100+ for tech t stuff that is different than the manufacturers specs. I was hoping that New Designz didn't deviate from the manufacturers, and to my delight they didn't. They simply improved (by leaps and bounds) the piston housing, added the durability with an aluminum rod and ratchet. EXACTLY what I was looking for! The only reason I gave it an 8 for install, was because there was zero in the way of instructions, and without looking every thing over very thoroughly before messing, you can find yourself muttering a few choice words. The fact that I dropped it down to an 8 because of this, should act as testament to how hard it is in my book to get a 10. My opinion, is this is THE best cyclone kit out there, and the fact that it's mid range for price just makes it that much better!!!!!

Re: The NEW DESIGNZ ULTIMATE CYCLONE COMBO

I have their rod and rachet upgrade and my cyclone flies now. With a tuned in r/t I can reach and maintain full auto with ease and the cyclone keeps up perfectly! There was a slight issue with the rachet install, but I just had to file it down slightly (which I was slightly disappointed about). However, once that was done. . .gravy.

really? what part? I looked mine over from top to bottom, and rubbed every edge with a silk cloth, and it never snagged once. Maybe you just got a bad one from a tool from the mill wearing out, either way, please give more detail, I'm interested.

Re: The NEW DESIGNZ ULTIMATE CYCLONE COMBO

Here are my notes I put out on a prior post:

Just finished installing and playing with the NDZ tornado rachet and fire rod upgrade for the cyclone. Here are a few notes:

1. I had to grind down the feeder axle where it connects to the rachet because it was too tall which lead to it rubbing on the bottom feeder plate.

2. After grinding that down, there was no drag and I shot 2 hoppers full withtout a break in the cyclone. Before the grind down, there were a few breaks.

I agree with you regarding it being a shop issue. The gun tech who did the actuall grinding said that he has seen this before with other maufactures and products that sometimes require some minor modifications to make sure the fuction perfectly. Plus we all know that for some reason, one A5 may be slightly different from the next.
