Re: Speed ball usage?

you might want to look into a palmer brass barrel. I have heard nothing but good things about them. I have an E-grip on my A5 and I love it. I will say it is easy to chew up some air and some balls. I am looking at buying a Richochet R5 Hopper based off the reviews from other members of the board. It does hold more balls than the stock hopper. If you are going to be looking at high ROF then the Vortex mod for the cyclone feeder might be in order. My A5 with an E-grip I chewed up a 20oz CO2 tank in one game and shot maybe 900 balls. The game did last 2 hours though.

Re: Speed ball usage?

I found a short barrel to be a big help for speedball.

My J&J 12" felt clumsy getting it around or over a bunker and onto targets.

I cut my stock barrel down to about 4" past the barrel-adapter and I can pop-out and take a shot really fast.

I am going to try it with a Flatline, just to see how it works. I might be able to at least pick a guy off from the break

Re: Speed ball usage?

I have an A-5 that I use as my speedball practice marker(my only marker, but I borrow for tournaments btw 2nd place in thailad in the tppl) only problem is the weight. If i were stronger it would be perfect

my set-up:
2nd hand A-5 and 12 inch barrel (bought from guy who is now my teammate btw guy in avatar is him)
camo sticker, (useless for me, but I put it to cover the paint bubbling abd chipping)
custom made drop forwar and double trigger ( read bent aluminum bar with holes and piece of metal screwed on to trigger)

wants:
e-grip
lighter drop forward
new hopper ( mine was cracked when I got it)
and stronger arms
-or-

a new ION

Re: Speed ball usage?

I played speedball with a 14" barrel (borrowed, need to get own) and a 16 ounce tank. I did fine.

Re: Speed ball usage?

Can neone spell I-O-N?

Seriously if u are going to do speedball you shoud definately use an ion, or at least a 98 custom with ups, it is lighter, and not as bulky.

A5s are more of a woodsball marker, but i have heard of ppl playing them on the speedball field without much problems...

I say, that if u must use an A5, get a drop forward, ultralite barrel, palmer stabilizer (if you must use co2) and a 9 ounce tank, since most tourneys are near a proshop, u can just get it filled when you need to.

Re: Speed ball usage?

I've played speedball with my A-5 extensively and I have to agree that the weight of the marker is the biggest downside. It's also loud, has a big kick, and is poorly balanced without a drop-forward.

With that said, all those months I spend playing with it has really improved my arm strength and makes me much better with my space gun.
