I don't really agree with you (then again I do consider myself a tourney player now). I have been playing for almost five years now, and spent damn near four in the woods because I thought speedball was the devil. Got to play it once after a scenario and I was hooked. The fast paced action was just more my style. To me the game goes a little more like this: 1. Off the break, know where you are going and cover your lanes or get to your bunker. Fronts get to the 50 before they do. 2. Shoot your lanes. Cover your bunkers. 3. Snap shoot. Probably one of the most important parts of your game is your snap shooting ability. 4. Back players: keep their heads down allowing fronts and mids to make their moves. 5. Fronts and mids: make your moves. Getting to the 50 off the break is essential. If your there protect it like you have nothing to loose. 6. Get the flag pull and if possible, hang the flag. I myself have never experienced speedball players bashing woodsball players (none serious at least, usually joking around and know the other players). The first tourney I ever played in other teams could tell we were newer, and actually brought us back on the field after the game to show us what we did wrong and how to correct it. Less than a year later I am playing in the local pro class and we recently took first in the latest tourney. My first four years of playing I was like every woodsball player, I hated speedball with a passion (and I had never played it). Although I had never run into the cocky speedballer I had heard stories about them and never wanted to try it out. After playing it for the first time, I realized what I had been missing.

| Re: Speedball Tactics 1. It's a lot harder than you'd think 2. It's harder for someone to wipe 7 hits than it is 1 3. Bump to flank you oppenent and get the angle... 4. More like bunker them... Easiest way to eliminate the last opponent 5. Most speedballers started off in the woods, I wouldn't say they all bash woodsball... Even noobs, most speedballers I've played alongside at scenario games didn't seem to have a problem with me in full camo, vest, and A-5. Nor did I have a problem with thier jerseys or Shockers.

| Re: Speedball Tactics well,I am a speedball only player and I only have an a5 because here in the Philippines, either ship it in,(expensive) or buy 2nd hand (cheap-ish). also, no woodsball within a 4 hour drive speedball is all of the ones mentioned before except the goating |

| Re: Speedball Tactics what?!? No woods in the Philippines? It was all jungle where I grew up. Quote:
Number 2 bothers me. It seems that wiping if you can get away with it is a part of the game. Even the XBOX paintball game gives the option to wipe. I have also seen the tendency of speedballers not calling themselves out on an obvious hit, waiting for a ref to do a paint-check while still shooting. wiping in speedball as well as woods is wrong. I play both. My real problem with speedball is that I am not that fast on the break. But once I get to cover, I do get to advance quickly.

| Re: Speedball Tactics The only players I've had issues with are the 'gear queer' type. Where they laugh at you because your not running the latest thousand dollar marker. Whether it's speedball or woodsball it's those loud obnoxious types that stand out, even tho the other 99% of players are helpfull and good sportsman. |

| Re: Speedball Tactics Actually I've only ever played speed ball with my A5 and ive been itching to do a scenario game for the longest time now.... I think some of the same tactics would be good for woodsball. The biggest issue is NOT getting tunnel vision and to check for flanking maneuvers. (Enter one of the Ranger mottos, "stay alert, stay alive") Particularly when you are the last player in a speedball game! Its been pretty darn humbling being a 100% squid trying to learn as quickly as I can amidst semi pro and pro players around here at speed ball. The best part is how everyone that I've met jumps at the chance to help when asked for advice! ![]() Speedball tactics should work well when you get into a firefight I'd expect in woods ball. Speedball also seems to stress being able to fire ACCURATELY at range while running. Something I've always drilled and drilled hard at home. Im sure that is a good thing to be able to do when in a woodsball scenario game, but im not sure exactly where. |
