| Re: Are sights useful? Quote:
Maybe you don't have scopes on a pistol, because it isn't enough accurate to be useful, providing you have a sight on a pistol. I did a lot of shooting all kinds of pistol, and believe me in a 25 meters range, you don't just point and shoot crazy unless you want to train your swiftness.. It is i think the same for paintball: neither with pistols or paintball you can accurately engage a 150 feet target, thats why you don't need the scope( if you see well!) on the pistol nor on the paintball gun ( you could, but it won't change you're ability to hit a target) My opinion, for what its worth, is that everyone could easily shoot the same using the sights or a red dot (1X) but when you have a stock in the way, red dot is the only option if you want to be able of a easy one shot to kill... I only got a red dot for that reason, because i'm very happy with the sights, i just put a spot of white paint for quicker shots... To finish i would say that a red dot (if you have a stock) is a nice investment because it permits to do the same as you where doing without the stock, tank on shoulder.... Well its what i think, and maybe i'm the only one like this....must be because i'm used to firearms... well just my 0.02

| Re: Are sights useful? I use the stock sights on my A5. I have the SpecOps Dogleg with a foam pipe insulator cheek rest. Bring up the gun, mask against foam, sights on target. I have a real nice NcStar 45mm Red dot, but can't get it aligned for whatever reason. Red dots should be used with both eyes open, even with a 1.5-2x. The barrel of the scope disappears and you see this red dot floating in space. Put it on a target and blast away. There are scopes on pistols of the firearm kind. Mostly used in target shooting and 1.2-3x Long Eye Relief(LER) scopes on hunting pistols.

| Re: Are sights useful? when you see scopes on pistol, it is often on competition pistols, who are as accurate (when worked well) as a rifle, but a i never saw (in a range) a scope on .40 or .45, nor a 9mm?? well thats called thread hijack sorry mate...

| Re: Are sights useful? I think that once you are used to the ergonomics of your gun, you can point and shoot without looking down any kind of site. I know I can usually just point and shoot a human sized target, although I might just look down the site to reassure myself before firing those one shot one kill sniper shots. |

| Re: Are sights useful? I played with a red dot sight for awhile, and it helped aquire a target slightly quicker, but it was never accurate enough. you can zero in the dot for one distance only, whitch doesnt really help in woodsball. your target is never the same distance away. Plus, the sight got hit at least once a day. Now, what i did find that revolutionized the way i played was a set of "iron" sights. i have a rap4 AR-15 type carry handle and a Forward AR-15 movable sight mounted at the end of my flatline. The more I played with that set up, the more i was able to use my first shot as the kill shot. |

| Re: Are sights useful? I used to have a red dot and found that it is pretty useless in most of the case. instinctive aiming is imho a lot faster and with time more precise. i use a A5 with a 14" barrel. but on the ather hands a scope with 2x magnification would be quite useful as a bonicular for identification of movements. |

| Re: Are sights useful? It could really go either way. You can know your marker like the back of your hand and know exactly how it's going to shoot, but then the paint might go crazy. Or you could just take some shots and get really lucky. It all really depends. I'm of the belief that sights can be pretty useful. They can help you get the first shot on target, which is usually the most important shot. After that it's pretty much just shoot and see where your rounds are going. This arguement could really go either way. ![]()

| Re: Are sights useful? I think all sights are useful as long as you use them, even if is just intimidation. Now being practical is another question, I would say magnifying scopes are the least practical of the three, followed by lasers because they are somewhat difficult to see in bright light.
