| Re: Tactics It's literally the same game. It's just a different field. No matter how you compare and say "Oh speedball relies on firepower," or "Woodsball requires more stealth." These are all tactics that are used on both fields because you're playing paintball. After playing woodsball all of my life I had joined the Army. At a training station the local paintball field was a speedball field. I ended up getting rid of my Tippmann because of the abuse I put it through over the years. I had a ton of mods done to it with over 40,000 shots fired through it. It was time to move on. I bought an Invert mini and instantly my skill just went up. I learned a ton about speedball and took the same tactics I learned on the speedball field to the woods. I got stationed in Hawaii and it was too expensive to play out here so I sold my gear. Now I'm moving to Fort Campbell, Kentucky and I'm buying another Tippmann to get me started until I save up for an Ego 12 or something. The point is that no matter what gun or gear you have, the player is what wins the game. At my home field I'd jump into the speedball course and shoot people up with my X7, but I played better in the woods because it was where I was most comfortable. We'd always wreck the speedball players in the woods because they never played in the woods. Play everywhere and learn how to play in different fields. It's only going to make you a better player in the end. |

| Re: Tactics I've noticed that when people that play mostly speedball come out to our woods they aren't as good as everybody thinks they're going to be. I should say the woods we play in are like a jungle. Very thick with ditches and dry creekbeds EVERYWHERE. With the high grass you can't even tell where the ditches and low spots are. I don't mind fighting my way through really thick brush, thorns, or crawling for long distances to get a shot. I use a stock mechanical marker and I do great. On a speedball field you look across the field and you can clearly see every bunker. The ground is flat, there's no trees hanging down in the way, no ground cover, no ditches, there's really no mystery about where your oponent is, except which bunker they might be behind. So it's pretty much a shoot out. As long as I have some thick woods I do great. Take that advantage away from me and speedball players chew me up and spit me out like bad fruit. lol. There are a few speedball players I know that are great players no matter where they are. Steve Bookout is one. The other guy I only know as Juan. I love playing against both these guys because it's such a challenge. The best way to get better at paintball is to play against guys that kick your ass.
