| Re: Out of bounds Like racing you can cut a corner all you want and get your tires all dirty but if you pass or impede on someone you get black flagged. It depends on the situation, I was at P&L once playing center flag in the mosquito nest (is that what its called?) but either way one boundary is marked by a very small stream that was dried up and you could easily step over it without even knowing it. So 1/2 way threw the game me and my squad noticed a group moving down the boundary or 40 feet past it. (they also had the flag) No refs noticed, because they had their backs turned to the out side of the field of course, why would you watch sidelines? as they came up on our base, we yelled to them that they were out of bounds and needed to drop the flag and get back in bounds, no reaction by them except incoming paint. so 3 of us just open up Heavy on them while the fourth rushed their bunker and popped all three of them*** (out side the boundaries) grabbed the flag and re-entered at our base. the refs noticed when we opened up in an odd direction but there was too much commotion to do much and it was all said and done to fast for a reaction. From noticing them out side to getting the flag, took about 25 maybe 40 seconds. When we where done the refs said what we did was wrong but absolutely acceptable for the situation, and asked if we saw that happen again to just hold them off long enough for a ref to handle it. I my self have not found my self out of bounds yet but if i did most likely i would just reinsert if no one in the immediate area had a problem with it, if someone does them I'm cool with being out, its part of the game. *** that is why you shouldnt have every man on your squad behind the same bunker. even if it is the only real cover

| Re: Out of bounds Lol, when we play on our own field, we have no bounds. Usually, it goes like this: - when we have scenarios there are no boundaries so you can ambush enemies (this applies for speedball and woodsball fields) - when you go out of the field in normal speedball and no one catches you, you're free to roam wherever you want ![]()

| Re: Out of bounds I think if i realized i'd stepped out of bounds, i would just get back into the marked area immediately, but not call myself out. An honest mistake is an honest mistake, and i wouldnt begrudge it of anyone. However, if i was out of bounds and actively engaging the opposite team, i would expect that any eliminations i managed to make would not count, and if a ref was handy and wanted me counted out, i would go without question - I would go as far as trying to make sure anyone i marked didnt walk off because of my inattention. Personally im a big fan of using the terrain to my advantage ( protip - if you ever need to find me on the field, go to higher ground ) and that includes boundaries. I kinda notice on pub fields there is a sort of invisible area along the boundaries - if you stay low and IN bounds, people just dont think to look there.. patience and stealth can get you deeeeeep onto your opponents flanks every time !But just automatically call myself out if i step out of bounds ? naw.. imho it'd be a disservice to both teams to lose a player for such a mild infraction. |

| Re: Out of bounds Good comments guys. I too use the Soccer approach to the issue. It is about who ends up with the advantage. If I notice that I am out of bounds I will immediately head back to where I think I went out of bounds at. I will not advance while being out of bounds. I will not shoot while being out of bounds. I will not communicate with my team (aside from telling them I am out of bounds). All my play will STOP until I am back in bounds. Now if I marked an opponent when being out of bounds I will call myself out and inform a Ref (if one is available) that I was out of bounds and the shot was not legal. If no ref is available I will try to notify the player before they leave the field and hopefully they can just continue to play. Of course that all depends on at what stage of "leaving" they are. With all that said.... I have never found myself out of bounds. I have fallen and had a leg/foot go out of bounds, or even my entire body, but I don't think that was what was meant by the question. And in that case I usually grunt and maybe let out an expletive (hey, I fell! ), but I don't call myself out. I pick myself back up and continue playing. Now if a person was in a tournament, I am sure the rules would be a bit more "enforced". But I don't see how being so tight on rules that if a person falls out of bounds or slips and their foot goes out of bounds in normal play would benefit the game or players. In that case I believe the "spirit" of the rule is what is important. ![]()

| Re: Out of bounds well put !^^^ I think too, generally speaking, being out of bounds is less of an issue the better the boundaries are marked.. and the better they are marked, the likelier out of bounds infractions are proably going to be enforced.. I like the 'soccer rule' - most honorable way to handle things, for sure. Maybe a bit of a hassle if you only notice your out of bounds after a long belly crawl, but the spirit of it is whats important, lol ; ) |
