| Re: A-5 Users doomed for woodsball? I think the A5 is too heavy and unresponsive for speedball compared to other lighter markers.

| Re: A-5 Users doomed for woodsball? I've mucked about on a speedball course with an A-5. When we won, we won because of tactics. When we lost, we lost because of tactics. Either way, the outcome wasn't dependent on my team's equipment.

| Re: A-5 Users doomed for woodsball? I have seen players with Spyders and Tippmanns outplay guys with higher guns. It all boils down to the player makes the gear not the gear making the player. You may be able to throw alot of paint but if you cannot put the paint on target or play as a team, it does not matter what marker you use. What about the Tippmann team? I hear they do pretty well with their markers. |

| Re: A-5 Users doomed for woodsball? If your marker can shoot anywhere from 9-15 BPS you can use it for speedball. And the A5 can easily do that. Now a base level A5 is probably heavier than other markers used for speedball, but oh well. And a milsim setup is DEFINITELY heavier than a standard speedball marker. LOL But I would not hesitate to use my A5 for any type of play. In fact I prefer a heavier marker. They don't feel like children's toys in my hands. I like my marker to be planted in my hands and up into my shoulder. It is a more steady firing platform and I find accuracy increases because of it. Then again I have yet to find a marker that I thought was "too heavy". ![]() ADDED: Oh, and why would playing woodsball be considered being "doomed"? That is where the sport started and is the backbone of both the sport and the industry.

Just kidding. In all honesty, this forum is geared towards the woods more than anything else. With that said, I'm one of the few hardcore speedball players that frequents this forum. My first marker was an A-5 and I built it exactly how I wanted it, for speedball: ![]() Although my A-5 hasn't been to the speedball field since I got my Viking, I wouldn't hesitate to bring it on the field because it's an A-5. Hell, I've even played speedball with this thing: ![]() Confidence is a huge factor when it comes to winning or losing a speedball game. Overconfident and you'll make stupid mistakes, scared to even hit the field and you'll be shot right off the break. Like everything else, the middle ground is the best. So, with all that said, it's up to you whether or not you want to head to the speedball field, just keep in the back of your head that your A-5 is only a small part of a successful speedball game.

| Re: A-5 Users doomed for woodsball? Well, its not that A-5s cant be used for speed ball, but its just that A-5s are geared more too woodsball type play. Speedball guns are thinner, lighter, generally smaller and shorter, designed for whipping around bunkers quickly and efficiently. Can a A-5 be used for speedball and do fine? Yeah it can, but what it all boils down to is who the player is, how good he is, hw he makes the best of what he's got, and most of all how he uses his noggin and experience.

Well said and I agree 100% with every word. the only thing I will add is that if you don't want to use an A5 for Speedball, then don't. Or, if you want to use a speedball gun for woodsball, then do. Hey, it's a game and it's your choice. |

| Re: A-5 Users doomed for woodsball? I know its a stupid remark, but I do not understand it from their POV as to why they think the A-5 is an unremarkable gun for speedball... I mean, even without the R/T or Egrip, I think its a great gun. Take off the stock, stick a mid size barrel on it, and you have a killer. Does owning a $800+ gun erode your mind? I am thinking its like going from driving a Porsche to a KIA in their mind. I have used my 98C for countless speedball games when I first started playing and loved it. And it does not fully matter on the gun, very true. There have been players who use Angels at the old field I played at and they were sometimes the first ones out. Maybe it gave them too much confidence, like the gun was going to do the shooting. =P |
